AggieDave 6 #1 February 8, 2004 I need a second job while I'm still finishing up school, so I've been putting applications in all around town and such. Low and behold, after I had written them off, Best Buy calls me today, got an interview tomorrow. Not that I'm real motivated to work there, it seems like they have a good work environment and the employees seem happy, so that seems good. Especially since this would be a "college job" to suppliment my skydiving income, especially during the farking winter with the low clouds all the time... Anyways, I'm pumped, so I had to share. edit: This isn't a "vibes for an interview" post, I'm not a big fan of those. I just wanted to share.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Kramer 0 #3 February 8, 2004 Sweet. I've got friends who work at Best Buy. They like it, pretty laid back fun job they say. Good luck with the interview. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
boxingrrl 0 #4 February 8, 2004 Good luck with your interview. I think the danger in working at Best Buy would be spending one's entire paycheck on new toys. I hope the employee discount isn't too nice

indyz 1 #6 February 9, 2004 QuoteI hope the employee discount isn't too nice When I worked there, most things were a certain percentage above cost. Very reasonable. I quit after about four weeks because I kept getting screwed on hours. They'd schedule me for something like 10-6 on weekdays. I'd come up with an excuse, something lame, like "I'm in high school." Then they'd tell me to just come in for whatever part of my shift I could work and it would get fixed on the next schedule. Well, 8 hours a week just wasn't cutting it for me, even for an after school job. Edit to add: Like any chain, there are good stores to work for and bad stores to work for. From talking to Best Buy employees in other locations, it seems like I got one of the bad ones.
AggieDave 6 #7 February 9, 2004 QuoteHope they dont want to make you work on weekends. Since I work at the DZ, they can't make me work weekends. Well, I guess they could, but then I'd get to do (again) what I did at my last job. Tell them 4 weeks in a row I couldn't work on a Saturday and I'm not going to find someone to cover my shift, its their fault, since they knew I had a 2nd job since day 1. Then finally telling them that since they refuse to work with my other job schedule, they can take this job and shove it. Hopefully that won't be the case.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
