skydiving is a rush, not compared to guys trying to rob your work.

So I went back to school and need a part time job, so I got a p/t job at a cstore.
The store is 10 miles from nearst town and I am the only employee there after 9pm.. wow what a target for a robbery..
Oh that would be tonight!!!! it was a foiled attempt but still very exciting to say the least.
As I was shutting down the place two locals came in and told me of three men trying to get in to the back door.
As the two locals pulled up the would be robbers bailed. we say them drive away.
We called to sheriff and I turned over the video from the cameras.
Man it was kind of exciting around the place all of the sudden, I got a rush off of it and it felt like my first skydive all over again.
Time to look for a diffrent part time job!

Glad you didn't get caught up in it and possibly hurt. What you described is preferable to some cracked-up scumbag saying, "Empty the register!"

Is it possible to find alternate employment? I don't see whatever you're making as being worth the risk to your safety.

Good luck.

Well I thought the benifit of working this job is that the place is usally empty and I can sit there and read my text from school. and get paid for it as well.
Not to mention they really work around my schedual alot.
But now I am seeing the side of it that I don't care for.

Buy a gun and keep it under the counter. When they try to rob you just blow there head off.
I will say being robbed is exciting though as strange as it seems. I've never been robbed when I wasn't there to catch the S.O.B.s though. Normally it's someone trying to get the money from the self serve farm stand, or steeling gas from the tank in the yard.
A teenage kid literally shit his pants and started to cry when I told him I was going to shoot him after I caught him steeling gas one nite. He was so scared and was crying so bad that I let him go and never called the sheriff. He has came back several times and apologized and even worked for a day stacking hay, and yes I payed him. I think he learned his lesson real quick.

Getting a gun would be reasonable if it was your bussiness. But, you are only an employee!!! Don´t risk your life for someone else´s money.
I used to work as a "Pizza Delivery Guy" in one of the dodgiest areas of Madrid. We would get robbed every other day. I would just give them the money and the pizza. I tried once to confront them, and i almost got stabbed with a kitchen knife and bitten by a rotweiler.
Big adrenaline rush, though.

Dude, Find a better way to make $$$. THAT doesn't sound worth it. There are several kinds of positions out there (security guards, etc.) that will make you a lot of dough and probably allow for some extra study time simultaneously. Hell, how do you think I paid my way through grad school while being a skydiver?

I am always looking for a diffrent job, but our area is pretty small. I live in a twon of 9,000.
The next part is that I start clinicals soon, and I will need more flexability in my job. the cstore can provide that where as say wal-mart or some other place can't.. so it's really a hard selection to find flexable work.
I won't carry a gun at work, even though I have a small cache of firearms.
I wish it where summer, I could go back to skydiving for $.. but alas it's frozen here and no jumping.
Did you read last nights post about the arrest of my waitress? it's like dinner and a movie at the good ol Emerys truck plaza.

Years ago, I worked p/t evenings at a convenience store/gas station. A friend of mine refers to these as a "Stop and rob".:D At night, they only had one person on. I used to be so scared. I finally decided that my mental health and personal safety were far more important than paying the bills on time.[:/] After they were robbed several times, they finally decided to always have at least two people in the store at all times. At least this would make the assholes think twice before robbing the place.

I'm glad nothing bad happened to you. You should probably think about another job, though. Your safety is the most important thing.:)

I can see it now. Someone you have never jumped with before.. in free fall pulls out a gun and demands
"give me all your money"

"what?"

"give me all your money"

"no we are not faster than a speeding bullet"

"common give it to me"

"Oh i get it you want to race!!First one to the ground wins, I'll even give you a head start":P
