For whatever it's worth, or not worth, here's the website for the Small Business Administration:

clicky;)

All of the SBA folks I've had contact with in the disaster response/recovery work I do have been very helpful to the folks they serve. And, yes, there is paperwork, but there's paperwork involved in just about everything!

just thought i would help:)

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

Man, it is sooo sweet to hear that these manufacturers are stepping up to help out. This was a tragic loss and I, for one, will be proud to purchase gear from these manufacturers one day. . .they have made my day. . .

That so totally rocks. . .Velocity Sports, Precision and the other manufacturers that are helping Elsinore deserve praise. . .what a wonderful thing for them to do during this horrible tragedy. . .

I will definitely purchase from these guys when I am ready to purchase a new rig. . .this is WAY cool. . .

I agree with what skymama said ; once we know what the insurance will cover, then I will contribute or donate, whatever.
Keep me posted and sorry about your loss guys. Although I am just a student and never jump at Elsinore, well not yet , I was planning to jump outthere this coming early April since it is pretty close.
I just hope all of you will be ok in the near future. But knowning exactly the damage and amount of $ needed will help me in my money donation though.
Best to All !

Nebula,

No need to donate money.... right now it looks like we are not covered. There were over a dozen staff members who lost everything and only a couple have insurance. Figure $10k to $20k+ per staff. Donate money if you want, but don't feel obligated.

We cleaned up the debris today and with the help of Chief, one of the local jumpers, he donated the use of his Bobcat which cut our clean up by several hours. Several jumpers, including Rosa, Kris, and Kyle were on hand to assist with the clean up. Heck, just showing up at the dz is more than enough support.

Thank you,

Shark

Lew Lew...

Your Samurai 136 is heading your way....

GraficO

Grafico!, Thank you my friend! I will return it to you as soon as I can buy a main (never ok?;)) Ok... now I'll work on replacing my cameras by August 6th...

And Wow, Velocity Sports replacing rigs!!!! That rocks! Thank you! Ed and I didn't lose an Infinity. But several instructors did. And I felt the such pain every time I heard someone else lost their personal rig in the fire. It doesn't look like we'll be able to replace Ed's two beautiful Mirages. I could only find this (old) photo. I wish I had a photo of the rigs from the back and side showing all the embroidery...

Anyway, now we'll probably go to Velocity Sports to get Ed a new container.

If anyone else has a photo of Ed's old rigs, please email it to me.

peace

Speaking of pictures, here's a pic of an AFF level 1 in July. All the equipment shown was lost in the fire. I'm on the mainside, Yoyo on reserve. The student gear was lost, too. If you look into the plane, you can see Pat (patairborne) wearing his camera helmet, also lost.

I agree with Shark. Just showing support on email or PM or the forums is appreciated and meaningful. Shark is on target with the estimates of how many staff lost how much. I wish insurance covered it, believe me... It took me a day to finish the spreadsheet and remember ever bit of camera equipment we had in there, and Ed and I combined lost over $37,000 worth. The generous discounts offered by manufacturers and the contributions everyone has made will help significantly, but there's no way it can cover everything. We will just start over and rebuild slowly...

I would really love to see an amazing turnout this weekend at Elsinore to skydive. Students and Experienced Jumpers... Come jump at Elsinore this weekend to show your support. The visible damage should be almost all gone by Saturday. Today they removed the burnt frame of the building, and tomorrow they plan on bringing in a replacement. We have enough loaner equipment to run the school and we would love to see a busy weekend, helping the instructors get back in the air, earning their pay as they did before, doing what they love and teaching others why we all love skydiving and the family we have because of it.

See you this weekend!

peace, thanks to everyone!

Here's a couple of pics that Skylord took Monday of some of my belongings. The shirt only has a small hole from something that melted onto it. It was in a Nomex helmet bag. And the other pic... well...:|

Well, if you give me a discount I'll buy the altimeter. That way I can claim I couldn't pull on time because of the fire damage!! Glad to hear of the recent good news from some of the rig manufacturers. Let them know they are winning student business with their heartfelt actions.

All of you are in my heart and prayers. I look forward to jumping with the Shark, Rich, Yo Yo, Doug, Marie, skyyhi, and all my other Elsinore brethren again very soon. Maybe I'll get checked out in time to do the "ash dive" (as opposed to "ass dive" which is how my AFF-6 exit went) :D

Well the GOOD news for sharky and I is the Velocity Sports has decided to replace infinity rigs lost by instructors at NO COST:o:)
That's sooooo Cool

You guys rock.

Amazing!!! Velocity sports is not a big operation. They make quality rigs but replacing the rigs for free is costing them big bucks. I hope everyone checks out the new infinity rigs at elsinore and maybe throw velocity sports some business.

The value of the gear that was lost & uninsured is amazing. Back in the day a person could buy a cessna jump plane for the cost of the video gear alone.

I hope this serves as a lesson to the other pro's in the country/world to insure your stuff as "tools of the trade " and hope the insurance company pays if there's a claim.

BTW the nomex helmet bag that saved some of the gear are these the military surplus helmet bags that are available for $10-$20.

R.I.P.

Awww shucks...:$ Thank you, too, Mark, and everyone else at Elsinore for the joining of our little community to help with the clean-up. Since my surgery was moved for the THIRD (and hopefully last) time to next week because of the remains of my flu lurking in my body, I was able to go to help with the clean-up at Elsinore today. Things work out a certain way for a reason, I guess. I am so very grateful that I had a chance to see my old friends today.

Btw, I did things in the short 5 hours that I was there today that I have never done before. I shoveled the remains of fire debris away, cleaned concrete floors via pressurized water, dug through debris for hardware, visited a "Do-It" store and (for a few minutes) was a bar maiden. I even got to be in a picture with those poor little fishies in the trees(...RIP, my little babies.) :( Anyhoo, I love you all, and I am sooo very, very happy that I could help in any little way.

That is just what I was saying to Shark and others. . .the sooner the operations return to normal, the sooner the emotional losses can be put to rest. . .Lets ALL go jump at Elsinore this weekend I plan on doing some student solos this weekend. . .Come join me. . .all of you. And PRAY for good weather so we can get up in the sky. . .

This is the BEST way to help them recover. . .

That's one way of doing it, but better to stop a fire in the first place. When this place is rebuilt I recommend that Elsinore consult a professional engineer or architect about fire protection. This is very easy to do and is more practical to skydivers, most of whom will not insure their gear, even if it's their income. This doesn't have to include a sprinkler system, just fire rated partitions around the video rooms or gear rooms.
