gary350 0 #29 February 2, 2004 QuoteThe one drawback to taking Melatonin is, since it is naturally produced in your brain, if you start supplimenting, your body might stop making its own melatonin. At least that is what I was told. J Yes - very good point - I have read that also and personally will only use it on occasion and never more than a couple nights in a row. Thanks for mentioning. Wish I could have slept last night but couldn't, now it's too late (alarm just went off) and I have a completely shitty day ahead of me at work... What about sleeping during the day? Any people nap at lunch when you can't get any good zzzz's at night? -Sometimes that just makes me more sleepy...~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. SkymonkeyONE 4 #34 February 2, 2004 QuoteAnybody got any (non-medication) tricks other than the above for getting much needed sleep when your body and brain aren't cooperating? Yes, getting laid makes me tired. Call the Alaskan bushpilot and get yourself serviced.
dkostas 0 #35 February 2, 2004 Hey there-- try some of these tricks; they've worked for me-- 1. No caffeine at all (coke/coffee, etc.) during the day or night. 2. Exercise a maximum of 2 hours before you want to go to bed. Not any closer to bed time. 3. Take a hot shower/bath 1 hour before bedtime. As our body temperatures decrease, we are more naturally inclined to go to sleep. 4. If, after 30 minutes, you are not asleep, get out of bed and do something relaxing (with dim lights, low noise) for 20minutes. Then try again. DON'T STAY IN BED IF YOU'RE NOT ASLEEP. 5. If this fails, try talking to your doctor about a medication that has few side effects. Hope this helps.
