skybrat68 0 #5 January 30, 2004 Why would you have used the USPS??? When we sold Randy's first rig, the buyer requested that we use USPS because a lot of people claim that UPS sucks in Canada. It took 8-12 weeks for the rig to arrive. At least you put $4000 insurance on the package. The guy we sent the rig to was trying to avoid customs charges and told us to declare the value at $500. He came very close to having sent us $2200 and getting no rig and $500 in return. I hope everything turns out alright for you. I can certainly understand being on the edge of a panic attack, we were and technically it wasn't even our problem. UPS or FedEx - always.
dustin19d 0 #6 January 30, 2004 I've E-mailed the senders. When they give me the tracking # I'll give an update. Unfortunately I think its lost. Nothing has taken this long to get here. Medium size boxes take 8-10 days. 3 plus weeks is too long!
skybrat68 0 #7 January 30, 2004 Don't give up hope. Like I said, we were a day away from starting the paperwork to file an insurance claim with the USPS when the rig arrived at it's final destination. It's probably caught in customs.

Definate possibility with the fact that the destination is in a country not as familar with rigs as maybe the US. Customs has been pretty busy with the orange alert. freeflir29 0 #9 January 30, 2004 If it has to come through your APO to Camp Hovey....just be patient. A friend sent me a rig from Hawaii to Georgia through the APO. It took 4 or 5 weeks.
diablopilot 2 #10 January 30, 2004 QuoteI had my rig sent from Oregon to S.Korea USPS Mistake. If it's lost USPS will claim it's been lost outside the US, and they no longer have any responsibility. They'll tell you you have to colect from the destination country, and that is next to imposible.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. dgskydive 0 #11 January 30, 2004 It may be to late for you but here is a word of advice to anyone buying things and having them shipped overseas. ALWAYS USE USPS GLOBAL EXPRESS SERVICE AND INSURE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is far to expensive in most cases to send it UPS or FEDEX. They are the safest but very expensive. The Global Express option is trackable and the insureance is key. To be honest the USPS doesn't like to pay up when they lose stuff. They try and wash thiier hands of it once it gets to another country. Dustin you should be ok because, yours went to an APO if I am reading you right (military right?) The Psot office will have to pay up since it technically left the US Govt. hands. IT may take awhile to get them to pay it but you will get your money back. Usually they are pretty good about getting things to the APO's though. Did ya buy it from Ralph? If so it may just be possible that he didn't send it right away. I have heard worse things from him. Sending good gear finding VIBES your way!!!!!! diablopilot 2 #13 January 30, 2004 Technicaly you're right, but as soon as it's hit the nearest Military Post Office, you'll no longer get the USPS to be able to take responsiblity for it. Instaed you'll have to work with the Military's snail service.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. dgskydive 0 #14 January 30, 2004 It's probably just got up somewhere. All military mail handlers get a mail card that is issued by the post office if I am not mistaken. I had one before but can't remember for sure. I don't think the post office can't get over on this one.Dom

GravityGirl 0 #19 January 31, 2004 I have lost stuff that I shipped to Sweden before. It was stuck in customs. Contact the local customs offices and start raising hell. It takes time. But it is most likely there. Did you ship it Global Priority? Or Global Express? Otherwise it could take up to 4 weeks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! MissMae 0 #20 January 31, 2004 I lived in Korea for about a year and my mom shipped a box over, needless to say, it took 4 or 5 months before it arrived. Something about she didn't write "Airmail" and it took a boat. Although I'd think that the sender would talk to the Post office person to make sure it was there in an acceptable time frame.. Good luck, hope it makes it there. take the time to appreciate the people around you.
