lemonjelly 0 #1 January 30, 2004 I've just completed a milestone... 1 year in my present job and i've not thrown a sickieI've even surprised myself! I'd normally take at least 1 week per year but for some reason, I aint felt like it. Which reminded me of my friend, who calle into work and told them he'd be off as he'd broke his arm, even though he hadn't He was paid weekly in his job and had to collect his wages every week, so, my friend and I plastered his arm the night before so he could accomplish this. this went on for just over 2 months Is it just down to him being a total idiot or are there other similar stories out there? I wonder........************************************************* RED LIGHTS & OFF LANDINGS ARE JUST MY THANG http://www.redlightrob.co.uk

jdthomas 0 #5 January 30, 2004 Used to work with a drunk, he would of course call in late all the time, but he would also miss alot of work. His best to me was one day he called and said he would be late as he was driving to work he realized he forgot to shave and would have to return home to do so. he never called back and never came in that day. he still works for the company and somehow survived the recent down size.. I am not sure why?www.greenboxphotography.com
DShiznit 0 #6 January 30, 2004 I've only done so once. I let it run for three days, it was close to "use it or lose it" time, and they wouldn't let us take any time off due to near end of quarter. I called in for three days in a row as I was very ill. That was several years ago, though.
DTOXX 0 #7 January 30, 2004 OK, true story but my boss was stunned. Every year to drive our "No bar too far" tour. This means we drive to the coast and stop at EVERY winery on the right hand side of the road. Coming home we again stop at every winery on the right hand side. (helps to keep it simple when your drunk) Note: we always have a designated driver. One year a friend paid for a Limo to drive us. Well the limo broke down on California 46 coming home and I was forced to call in to my boss. I left a message at 3am from the cars cell phone stating that my limo has broken down at a winery and I will not be able to make it into the office. ------- D.T. gemini 0 #10 January 30, 2004 Not exactly an excuse, but a true story.... Caller: Hey Jim. I saw your office door was shut and you didn't answer your office phone, so I thought I would try your cell. Me: Hi Harto, what's up? Caller: Are you going to be in the office soon? Me: Well I'm... Caller: Yeah I'm sorry I know you're out, but you need to get here right away. Me: It will be a long commute. Is the company picking up the travel? Caller: Sure, but get here as soon as you can. The system is down and... Me: Harto? Caller: we need you to ... Me: Harto? Caller: Yeah? Me: I'm in Perris waiting for my parachute to be packed. It's almost an hour back to Ontario and then at least 3-4 hours back to Houston. Caller: Silence Me: Harto? Caller: Ummmhh, I didn't know you were going to be gone. Me: It's on the vacation schedule. Have you checked it lately? Caller: Well no, but you didn't say anything yesterday about being gone. Me: I didn't think I needed to since it was approved, you were in a meeting all afternoon, and BY THE WAY I DON"T WORK FOR YOU. Caller: Ok see you when you get back. WrongWay 0 #12 January 30, 2004 Hahaha, that's easy. I rode my motorcycle out to the DZ this 4th of July weekend on a Friday. Well normally I have to work Saturdays until noon, but it's an hour 1/2 drive, and it had rained a little the night before, so I called in and said the DZ was flooded and I couldn't get my bike out. Surprisingly it worked!! Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.

Snowwhite 0 #16 January 30, 2004 I live in Illinois, and employed a flighty organist, who called me from California to say that he didn't think he could get home in time to play the gig, it was 5 minutes AFTER the thing had already started..Luckily, I knew the guy was a creep and I had a backup organist on the bench when the call came in. I told him, 'Stay in California, we don't need you anymore' He told me "you can't fire me" to which I responded, I JUST DID.skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
