Swooping Video game

some video game company seriously needs to make a Swooping video game. THAT game would be better than Halo, ...............well mabey not , but i would play it all day. Seriously, like you start out on like a student canopy and complete chalenges to downsize and stuff like that. Then when you finish your "training" you can like join the PST. THat would be SICK!!!!

Yes, and there was an "skydiving" game of some kind (mac/pc) just few years ago. But it was even not worth checking it. ;-(

the game is bad. the controlability sucks and the grafix look like they belong in the 90's. it is all hybrid jumping (if you can get the combos off) which isnt too bad, but they dont show the exit, the break off or the deployment. there is no canopy ride either...
pilotwings for N64 had a 'secret' level that was rw jumping with deployment and landing that was fun, and so far, the best skydiving level i have ever played...

chriswelker has that. We played it drunk at his house a couple of weekends ago, and it was fun. The formations you build are impossible by today's standards - 3-D with some belly, some head-down, and some standing all piled all over each other. It is still fun, though. The problem is that the gameplay itself is a little like the game Simon - a sequence of button pushes appears on the screen, and you have to duplicate it quickly to build the formation.

contemporary games have budgets of 5 - 10 million dollars. the market demand for a skydiving game is nil. you will not see such a game.

They should have come out with a skysurfing game when the sport was still PRIME on the X-Games about 4 years ago.

I used to play that game all the time. I never knew about the cheat. Now I my have to go buy a N64 again. I have played the one o playstation as well. IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hm, it shouldn't be too difficult to get a basic simulation done. Of course accurate flight models of specific canopies would be pretty hard to do (and require lots of testing and verification, what an excuse to go skydiving eh?), but a generic canopy should be doable.

Any decent programmer with 3d graphics programming experience should be able to do a basic Boun...err swoop game. It's a game, so it doesn't need to be that accurate. More important that it's fun.

Mebbe I should start. Hell, I'm unemployed, so why not?

If they put out that P.O.S. on playstation they may try again with something that is really cool. Maybe we should petition them.

I can't remember who's doing it, but they're in the middle of making a Skysurf game for the PS2. I'll look for the website and post it if I can, but supposedly somebody talked to some of the best skysurfers in the world (are there any left?? ) to make the game as realistic as possible. I think the release date was sometime next year.
