ACMESkydiver 0 #8 January 8, 2004 Gonna sound ridiculous, I know... but I'm afraid of heights. Now that link says that it's 'Acrophobia', but I thought that it was actually agoraphobia?? A skydiver afraid of heights...sheesh.... I'm also afraid of drowning, but I went scuba diving on my honeymoon 10 years ago because hubby insisted I'd love it...he was right, but I'm still very afraid of drowning! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. wmw999 2,501 #10 January 8, 2004 Agoraphobia is a fear of open spaces (think people who don't leave the house for years because going outside is too scary). Acrophobia -- think Acropolis (top of the hill in Athens). Yup. My ex-husband didn't like heights, either, and he made several hundred jumps. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. happythoughts 0 #12 January 8, 2004 G. Gordon Liddy, the Watergate conspirator, had a fear of rats. To get over it, he used to cook and eat them. This seems to be a good method. Either you get over your fear, or you run out of rats to be afraid of. My roommate actually found a book for rat recipes and got him to sign it during an appearance at the college. happythoughts 0 #21 January 8, 2004 QuoteAgoraphobia is a fear of open spaces There is a new medicine for that, Paxil. Listen to the ads for that. The side effects are vomiting, nausea, diarhhea, and dryness. You can meet new people now, but they remember you as the smelly person with the clammy hands who puked on them. Is that progress?
