They found my canopy! :)

Recommended Posts

Robert, Heidi, Jerm and gang went out looking today and found my Lotus about 40 feet up in a tree, past the rock quarry and lake.

They got it down, it is at the loft awaiting a pull test and line trim check. No holes or anything, a small snag on one line, some dampness, but that is all. It did pour last night, which apparently isn't good for the tape, but hopefully it fine!

If I chop that puppy again though, it's gone. ;)

Still going to test jump other canopies this weekend, just for the heck of it and in case the canopy isn't quite right.

Yeeeehaaa!

Thank you canopy hunters! :)

Great! Just out of curiosity, how far did it float from where you chopped? I have a Lotus which I've never cutaway. Someone once told me that airlocked canopies float further away because they don't deflate as quickly. I'm not sure I believe that person, but I'm just curious.

i can say that my vengeance went quite a distance (almost a mile) when i chopped it.
people who saw it said it kept its shape for a good bit of time before it deflated.:D:ph34r::D

Indeed, we are relieved as well. It was a great day! I got the whole thing on video. It is really quite amazing to see Robert White work.

He has been doing since he was 8 years old....bless his heart.

I hope the canopy is well too, and most of all SAFE!!!!!

Dang...that's quite the devoted group you have to go out that far, and get it down from a 40 ft. tree! :o

Congrats on finding 'er Heather.

Well Im glad you got it back....

The last time she chopped I got her canopy for her. I had to climb 200 feet up a tree on a pencil thin branch, risking life and limb.;) Ok maybe not, but don't tell her.

While she didn't chop this one, she has several chops.....Learning to pack is a muther fucker.

I beleive it. Ever notice how long it keeps it shape on the ground after landing compared to non-airlocked canopies?

Glad to hear you got 'er back in one piece Heather! B|

Heidi was jumping her container - no luck on the freebag/reserve PC yet. She tossed the reserve handle too. New parts are on their way, but I bet Robert finds the freebag and PC!

The canopy was about a mile and a half from the DZ. Winds were high, but I don't know how high exactly. She had chopped at around 3 grand.

The other 3 times I've chopped it, it didn't seem to go much further than a typically canopy would, but I was chopping lower than that and I don't remember any high winds on those days.

Once Robert found out that it was an airlocked canopy that he was looking for, he definitely started looking further away for it though.

Awaiting the tests...If all looks good, I'll jump it on Sat, but will pull higher than normal to see how it flies.
