Do you want boogie threads moved?

I got a pm from someone who has a chapped ass from complaints he has with the site. (Sometimes y'all just share too much info with me. ). One suggestion was that the boogie threads get moved to the Events Forum.

On one hand, I understand how it gets tiring to surf through threads about boogies that you're not going to, especially when they're on here for 8 months (thanks for that, Jim ). On the other hand, this IS Talkback and you can post whatever you want here. Threads don't usually get moved out of here. So, what's the consensus?

Talking about the event should be in Talk Back! That is what talk back is for. To talk about stuff. DUH!

If they do not like the threads, they don't have to look at them - same as the political threads, the boobies threads, the.... Get the picture?

Ummm....not sure why it takes any amount of courage to post reasons on here....I don't see how people on dz.com could be intimidating enough....

Anyways, yes, I would like to see the boogie threads moved to Events since that's what it's there for. I don't care too much since they're easy enough to ignore, but I would prefer if that's where they were at. Even boogies that I plan on going to (Mardi Gras, WFFC) I don't really participate in those threads because they tend to just be a list of people that are going and flirting between those people.

It's TB, so I don't really care what's here, but I would prefer it if boogie threads were in Events. Most people won't post it there because they want a lot of exposure about a particular boogie, and they know that TB is the best place to get such exposure.

TB is a good place for them since they tend to get off topic a lot. I do think the bumping of the WFFC is kinda stupid though. So what if it's on page 4? If you don't have anything to add, why bump it?

I'm a newbie here and don't know how all the others feel (other than those that posted), but personally I'd like to see them moved. I check the events thread to keep up on what's happening and I'd find them there. On the other hand, it really doesn't bother me if they stay in TB, but there's already so many posts in TB that stuff gets buried pretty fast. Stuff that could move might help. Anyway, I voted yes, but really it doesn't matter.

I think you need to explain to someone that this is a skydiving site that he/she is on. The boogie threads belong here in talk back as well as the event forum. My feeling is that if you are going to come into talk back, only click on the stuff you want to read about and leave the other things alone! I also think that no matter how much pleasure comes from being apart of this family, someone will always find a reason to bitch because they have nothing better to do!-Caress

First off, I want to say NO I don't want boogie threads moved. . .this will be my first year attending a boogie and I like to know who is going so I can hook up and relative information about HOW MUCH FUN it is going to be. . .hehehe.

That being said, I would like to have good information in the Events forum with regards to dates of the boogie, hotel info, camping info, etc. . .so that stuff is all in one place when I need it. . .
but then again. . .I want perfection too and that probably never happen. . .

Anything goes in talk back but then again, If we do have a forum specifically for said threads why not put those threads there.

Talk back is so big these days that if you post something it could dissapear 2 pages back within a few hours.

Absolutely not!!! Talkback has so much fluff to begin with (hey check it out, I put a hat on my cat and took pictures, now everyone look at me ... sort of stuff).

Talk about boogies in Talkback is just a bunch of people sharing their experiences or better yet letting others know about up an coming boogies. If someone can tell us about their politcal views (or if they've gone swimming) in Talkback, then someone should be able to talk about what great or bad time they had at a given boogie.

threads in "events" tend to be informative, date, time, etc... Threads in talkback tend to be about who's going, where to meet up, and all that.

I'd like to see them moved beacause:

A) that's what the events thread is for.
B) It might cut down on the signal to noise ratio in talkback.
C) Who really needs to know who's gonna be at WFFC 7 months before the event? It's like me asking who's gonna be at Perris on March 15th 2005.

I voted no mainly because I wouldn't want to get the informative threads about events burried under the boogie threads. Now maybe a special category for boogie threads may me an answer but then again, why make things more complicated? Anyway, if I don't want to read a thread I don't click on it so I don't mind the boogie threads staying in TB. It's not like they take up that much room on the list.
