Mine's a 403(b), and we seem to have higher limits than that.

Not because it's a 403b, it's because you're an old fart. Those over 50 have higher limits to give them a chance to "catch up". You get an extra 3 grand.

Well, being an old fart has to have some advantages, I suppose.

Yep....This is with the US Govt "Thrift Savings Program." They fully match the first 3% and then some percentage of the next 2%. The TSP is pretty awesome as it lets you decide how you want to invest. They have 5 differen't funds that go in risk from basically a savings account up to international and common stocks.

I have been in my retirement plan (401) since I was 21. Im 31 now.

Been putting in 10% for most of that time. Company matches 500.00 a year.

My company also has a traditional retirement account...I have 13 years in that.

I also have a military disability.

I contribute 5% into my 401k and my company contributes 15% of my 12/31 salary as profit sharing.
The limit is $13K for the 401k but because of EGTRRA and if your plan has the "catch-up" election in the plan document and if you are going to turn 50 in 2004, you can contribute an additional $3k.I think the limit is still $3k for the ROTH and $3.5 if you are 50 or older. But, ROTH contributions are not tax deductable - which stinks if you need the deduction.
