RoadRash 0 #28 January 21, 2004 Quote It's so good to be back in the water. As an "adult" when @ the gym, swiming "serious" laps, everyone thinks your on a team or something... kinda an ego booster. Yeah, I would speak to a doctor, but that sounds kind of like you did something to a nerve...that is just a guess...otherwise...I would ice...and gently stretch...if it continues...you will definitely have to speak to a doc...(which sucks, I KNOW!!!!) I had to go through 3 1/2 months of physical therapy and my parents made me quit after my junior year...poo......Hope everything works out ok...!!!!~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... Try the power gloves anyway in training and I think youll see the difference. You can get the H2O gloves online or at any surf shop, only about 10 bucks. Here's a link for H2O gloves
Viking 0 #30 January 21, 2004 Well its a college team so I have to take class'. Looking at the way those gloves are designed it would give me bad habbits like having my fingers spread wide instead of close together. Paddles don't do that b/c they work just as well if my fingers are closed unlike those power gloves that require me to leave my hand open for them to function properly. They are ment for surfers not competetive swimming where stroke form is key. Thanx for the advice though.I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
EricaH 0 #31 January 21, 2004 Guess I should find a doc. Pain actually started last year, noticed that I couldn't put my down-plane arm over the person next to me, then after RW jumps my finger tips were numb.... guess that's really why I went to Freeflying Viking, I remember those paddles - very good things! And they do the same thing Jumprunner is talking bout, but don't mess w/ your hands. They're actually more unforgiving if you do something wrong in your stroke. Really teach you hand entrance & exit form! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. True, they are meant for surfers, I use them for power takeoffs on a shortboard but Im about the only one who ever wears them. Feel "naked" without them. Either way, any rule that says you cant use them in a competition? Actually, you want to spread your fingers and form a cup, then point your wrists slightly downward when using them, that gives the rest of your body upward lateral momentum.
