xtreme 0 #1 January 19, 2004 Skydive Elsinore Fire Update: As posted yesterday morning; Skydive Elsinore’s packing room, video room, gear storage, and instructor room sustained a complete and devastating loss in a fire. The entire drop zones tandem rigs, student rigs, video equipment, radio equipment, etc. went up in flames. Along with drop zones equipment, all of the instructor’s personal equipment including: rigs, helmets, cameras, jumpsuits, camera helmets, computer accessories, and personal items were additionally lost. The outpouring of assistance that came forth via emails and phone calls within hours from across the nation were unparalleled and emotionally moving. I would like to personally thank; Jack Guthrie and Debbie Zimmerman, Larry Pennington, Missy Nelson, Paul Fayard, Jay Stokes, Dan BC, Phil & Debbie Chappel, Derek Thomas, James at Skydive Paradise, and so many others have generously offered student and tandem equipment in an effort to help us keep our student operations up and running. The real gravity and shock set in at approximately 8:00am Sunday morning when all of our instructors and staff came into work. The look in their eyes and emotions of the realization of a total loss, was one that nobody could hide. Everyone’s personal equipment, (tool’s of the trade) that they use to earn a living and support their families were totally lost; this is the real tragedy! The outpouring of offers and generosity from the brotherhood of skydiving to help the instructors get back in the air has been awe-inspiring; we thank each and everyone for your generosity for every jumpsuit, altimeter, rig and helmet donated to keep everyone in the air! I now make a plea to the skydiving industry to help out the instructors! This is what is needed and how you can help! #1- Money: An account has been set up on Pay Pal in which financial donations can be made. 100% of the money in which you donate will go directly and distributed to the instructors in an effort to purchase new equipment. This is what is needed most! Ø Go to www.paypal.com and set up an account. Then you make direct donations to the following account # Elsinoreappeal@hotmail.com #2- If you would like to donate gear for the purpose of resale or replacement. Please send equipment and note to: Ground Zero 20701 Cereal Rd. Lake Elsinore, CA. 92530 C/O: Fire Loss #3- Fortunately, the local community has stepped up and have loaned enough equipment that will enable the instructors to get back in the air; therefore, please do not send equipment for loan at this time. Thank you in advance for everyone’s support! John Hamilton Skydive Elsinore

skyyhi 0 #3 January 19, 2004 Thank you John for coming here and posting an update. . .Elsinore is my second family and this has been very devastating to read about. I count those instructors as my personal friends - they all have touched my life in more ways than they can possibly ever know. I cannot wait to get back in the air with them. . . Hugs and good vibes to all. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #5 January 19, 2004 Hello Hammo and my Elsinore family, I was going to drive to Elsinore today to help out, but my hospital check-in for my upcoming surgery took longer than I wanted it to be. My drive from the hospital to Elsinore would be over 3 hours. I will see you all tomorrow if you are there. I am driving over to physically help with ANYTHING that I can help with, and I am taking all my gear to loan to anyone that can fit into it. I e-mailed Betsy, who I'm sure is super busy. You can also let her know that I'm lending for a couple of weeks (until I recover from surgery)...my Reflex R350 container (fits 120-150 main) w/14" harness (big on me, but fits only smaller ladies), Spectre 150, PD 143R, cypres, altimeter, 3 extra goggles, extra altimeter (hand-strap), Aviator helmet (liner made to fit my hair/head). I am only keeping one of my altimeters, my audible, favorite goggles. You guys can take also out my main if the rig doesn't fit anyone. I hope that you guys are feeling our love, support and empathy right now. I am deeply, horrifically saddened by all that has happened. Tears are flowing for all my Elsinore family, but I know that we can all help to pull you through. I LOVE Elsinore much more than I could ever express in writing. I have missed jumping with my Elsi family for so long due to my stupid chronic health illnesses that have been keeping me on the ground most of the time. I went to Eloy for the New Year and jumped. I had a FABULOUS time, but I was REALLY excited to return home to Elsinore and jump. Sadly, I got really, really sick upon return to LA and cannot jump due to the antibiotics in my system. I miss you all. Please know that we are all with you in our hearts. Personally, you are my second family. I have never felt like that before about any place or group of people. I will do anything that I possibly can to help you all through this. Much love, ROSA
