skymama 37 #1 January 16, 2004 Somebody took my babies and replaced them with these people who are almost as tall as I am! When did that happen? I see them every day! I swear, just yesterday they were cuddling with me in their footie pajamas after their baths and bringing me the same book to read for the 100th time. Now my daughter is studying for her driver's license and my son is showing off his 6 pack! Someone stop this ride, I want to get off! I'm not ready for the kids to leave the nest! My youngest will graduate in 5 years....then what am I going to do? I've definied myself as a mother for so many years. How did y'all with adult children handle this? I got tears in my eyes yesterday when I picked up our Christmas photos. I used to look forward to getting my life back when they graduate, and now I'm already dreading it. I need more babies! (yes, I know I don't like my picture posted, this is a 1 time thing. I'm just there for reference on how big the kids have gotten.)She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Pammi 0 #8 January 16, 2004 I still have a little time left before I have to worry about it, but they are certainly getting older. It's occurred to me a lot recently. She just turned 12 and our son is 8. But it's really cool to watch them getting such interesting personalities. Although I think Merrick's influence is going to cause me headaches since they are both such smartasses already! The teenage years are coming quickly...please someone put out the instructions on how to handle them soon! Pammi

flyangel2 2 #11 January 16, 2004 Well Andrea, welcome to my world. My older son turned 18 years old last year, and moved out about two weeks ago. I'm still trying to get use to that. He does stop by and visit, and I can't stop wondering if he has enough food. When I go to the grocery store, I buy him groceries also. Heck, last week I found out he didn't have a microwave, so I bought him one. Now before all you guys get upset with me about helping him out so much, you need to understand what has happened in our (my children and mine's) lifes. Luke and Adam lost their dad in a skydiving related accident in 1996. In 1997 I was diagnosised with breast cancer, and am still continuing to fight that battle. My boys and I are very close, and I will always be there for them. I don't mind buying Luke groceries or anything else he might need, I want to make the transition as easy as possible for him. But, I don't do every thing for him. Heck, he had to pawn his trumpet yesterday for gas money, and he's doing well with his car payments to me. He isn't doing drugs or out drinking, and will be graduation from High School a semester early and starts college in the Spring. So, I'll help as much as I can. Andrea, so for going off track. If you have done as good as a job with raising your children as I think you did, don't worry. They will move out, but they will never leave. Heck, join me in a few years. My plan is to buy a R.V. and travel.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
misskriss 0 #12 January 16, 2004 QuoteI need more babies Me toooooooooooooooo. It's so hard when you realize how much they've grown. With my oldest turning 15 in a couple weeks, I am slowly starting to freak out. The other morning it was soooooooo cold out and I wanted to drive her to school instead of her standing in the freezing air waiting for the bus at 6am. She said......" no, mom." "But Lauren," I say... "it's freezing out.." "Mother, I want to go to the bus stop.. I have friends...I have a life." "But it's freeeeeeeeeeezing, " I tell her again. "Mama," she says......."sometimes life is freezing....bye bye..." Thank goodness my youngest (10 and 11) will still snuggle with me. I always thought that once they got older I would appreciate my freedom. It does have it's benefits but I long for the smell of baby powder again. I just can't fathom never having another child. It's what I do...LOL My baby making days are not over yet... I still have some good eggs left in me..
