skycutie 0 #29 January 13, 2004 Quote25+ years smoke free! Congratulations.... I'm one day smoke free. I want to to quit real bad! My asthma and allergies are killing me, but it's so hard to quit! I don't smoke that much though (a cigarette or two daily, unless I'm drinking.) Quiting is one of my new years' resolutions. WrongWay 0 #30 January 13, 2004 First of all, Rhino, Amazon and I have 2 things in common. (other than amazon and i are from SGC... ) Corona is my fave beer for sure, followed up by RR, and I too used to jump a Triathlon. Anyway, here's my outlook on smoking and females. I personally do not smoke. I don't care that other people do and I'm not offended by it. Do your own thing, just not in my car. I'd date a girl that smoked, and I might have one at social gatherings, but beyond that still wouldn't get into it much myself. steve1 5 #37 January 13, 2004 About 4 years ago, when I was still teaching, I started jumping again. I told a fellow teacher that I was skydiving again. She was going on and on about how I was only a teacher and didn't make enough money to jump.....And then I got to thinking that she probably spends more money than I do just on cigarettes. Smoking a pack or two a day is about as expensive as my jump habit, and probably more dangerous......Steve1

GARYC24 3 #40 January 13, 2004 My aunt died New Years Day mainly from smoking. It was expected she would by this summer, it happened sooner than anyone thought..I couldn't make the funeral (in Southern Illinois) I quit 2 months ago, I figured I'm already got damaged lungs,etc..but to continue is suicidal! I feel that anyone who smokes basically does not give a shit about the damage their doing in the long run to their health! Ain't no two ways about it ! Push 0 #41 January 13, 2004 Sad but true. It's difficult to give constructive criticism with smoking though. I've never heard a reasonable argument that justifies the cost vs benefit of smoking. There's practically nothing you can say in defense of it. So the only constructive criticism is "quit, and quit ASAP". If you know the person well, you could help with the quitting, but here on the internet you really can't. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. Zeemax 0 #43 January 13, 2004 also.. on topic... lol... I'm really not a big fan of smoking. I hate the smell. I hate going to a club at night and coming smelling stinking of an ashtray, knowing that my health will have been affected through passive smokers. I wish our spineless prime minister would do what the rest of europe has and just ban smoking in most places. He wont of course, because there are too many smoking voters. Please dont get me wrong, i'm not trying to start a crusade against smokers here. Do what you want to your body, i just dont see why i should have to suffer. gmanpilot 0 #44 January 13, 2004 Interesting thread: Riding a motorcycle can kill you. Swooping can kill you. Smoking will kill you eventually. My dad died from lung cancer about a month and a half ago. He was a smart, educated, loved and loving individual who was completely addicted to a lecherous habit. He just did not have the strength to quit, even after his cancer was diagnosed. I do not make moral judgements about it. The habit simply sucks the life out of you and those around you. So I would implore those of you who do choose to smoke, to think about making a different choice while you can. It only gets harder to quit, please do it while you can._________________________________________ -There's always free cheese in a mouse trap.

MyOwnWay 0 #46 January 13, 2004 i myself do not smoke, but i don't mind if others smoke, just not around me. i find it hard to breathe and my eyes start watering, so if you are smoking around me, i won't ask you to leave, i will relocate myself. i have seen the effects of long term smoking. my grandfather passed away due to its effects, and i am watching my grandmother slowly die. w/ her being a smoker of 30 + years, she has leather looking skin, she had to get her teeth replaced because they were so black and brown, she is constantly coughing up the nastiest shit from her lungs, she's constantly getting sick, and she loses her breath very easily. this isn't exactly what i consider a healthy habit. i don't want to go through that, but there is that huge thing called freedom of choice._________________________________________ all good things are wild and free - Henry David Thoreau
zyne 0 #47 January 13, 2004 Got a question for everyone making their opinions public knowledge. Does anyone of you smoke? Has anyone of you smoked? I'm sick and tired of the bashing in the medias. I think by now the point has come acrossed yanno. We all make choices in life, I chose to smoke. If I go to a restaurant for dinner and smoke after my meal its by choice. But the stuck up asshole sitting on the other side of the restaurant whining about me smoking ALSO made a choice. If you are in a position where it bothers you this bad, hey here's an idea, cook dinner at home!!! I'm sick and @#$%@#$ tired of this debate in all shapes and forms. People smoke, deal with it. There are non smoking tables in all restaurants, some disallow smoking all together. But its just never enough for you people is it? Whether its right or wrong to smoke, its still our @%$@# right, deal with it.
Remster 30 #48 January 13, 2004 QuotePeople smoke, deal with it Yep. I try to take my business to non somking restaurants and other places that have that option.
