Zeemax 0 #1 January 14, 2004 Ok, its a cut and paste, but it still makes you take a long look at yourself... Here's a dilemma for you.... With all your honour and dignity what would you do? This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will be able to test where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, where you will have to make a decision one way or the other. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous. Please scroll down slowly and consider each line - this is important for the test to work accurately. You're in Florida...In Miami, to be exact. There is great chaos going on around you, caused by a hurricane and severe floods. There are huge masses of water all over you. You are a CNN photographer and you are in the middle of this great disaster The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot very impressive photos. There are houses and people floating around you, disappearing into the water.Nature is showing all its destructive power and is ripping everything away with it. Suddenly you see a man in the water, he is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away by the masses of water and mud. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. Suddenly you know who it is - it's George W. Bush! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him away, forever. You have two options. You can save him or you can take the best photo of your life. So you can save the life of George W. Bush, or you can shoot a Pulitzer prize winning photo, a unique photo displaying the death of one of the world's most powerful men. And here's the question (please give an honest answer): Would you select colour film, or rather go with the simplicity of classic black and white?Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
MyOwnWay 0 #2 January 14, 2004 i have always been told that black and white brings out the emotion in the picture. people are not fixated on color, but what's in the picture itself. just something i remember from an english professor_________________________________________ all good things are wild and free - Henry David Thoreau

genoyamamoto 0 #9 January 14, 2004 No doubt what I would do here. I'd shoot whatever I had in my camera at that time and keep shooting 'till there was no film left, while yelling at jsaxton to save him. Then as jsaxton is trying to save him i'd reload probably with some 800 speed color film like fujicolor press or NPZ. Might even consider using NPH as skin tones are rendered beautifully. I'd then take pictures of the rescue attempt to get another pulitzer prize winning photo of the rescue attempt. If they both get into trouble, i'd load yet another roll of film and keep shooting the greek tragedy unfolding in front of me. It'd be a tough choice at this point for film selection. Do I want low contrast to render the skintones properly or do Iwant to pump up the color saturation to add emotion to the shot? Hmmmm well if i'm sure there are a few prize-winning shots already, I may consider risking it with a slower speed slide film like fuji velvia or kodak EPP to really juice up the colors and start playing with the angles a bit. Do I have a flash unit with the camera? If I had a digital camera I would shoot in RAW format. Gotta go... plaything needs to spank me Feel the hate... flyinghonu 0 #10 January 14, 2004 Is Blair stuck in the water w/ him? If so, I would go for color. If not, stick w/ black & white. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
2fat2fly 0 #11 January 14, 2004 OK, I've heard other versions of the joke (insert public figure here)-and that kept me from laughing. Mechanically, the joke is funny. I would venture to say that a similarly built joke has been posted here only referring to ex-spouses or lawyers or some other easy target and got a good response. If the USA wasn't as politically charged as it is these days, more people would find it funny. Other than knowing the punchline before hand, I thought that it was funny.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
rehmwa 2 #12 January 14, 2004 News story - Pres Bush swims out of flood. Next day - "DFL Questions President's motive - Sure, he said he wanted to live, but it really is a scam to make the oil industry richer" Howard Dean quoted as saying "It was a serious mistake for Pres Bush to use a simple freestyle technique. I don't know what stroke I'd use, but it must be anything other than that. We can't have this kind of leadership. I don't feel any safer." Kerry - "In Vietnam, we only floated quietly" Sharpton - "Why is the film choice only White and Black instead of Black and White? It's wrong, oh wait. Dean doesn't have any pictures in his office in color, only white. What about that?" Michael Moore - "Cameras are bad because they are only used to shoot people." Moveon.org - "Hitler new how to swim. We're just SAYING it." Kucinich and Mosely Braun and Gephardt submitted quotes, but no one was interested enough to listen. ... ChileRelleno 0 #15 January 14, 2004 You shoot with whatever is in the camera if you decide to take the picture. Your in the middle of total chaos and have a second to take the shot...... DUH! Now as to the choice of saving a person or letting them die... I would save the life regardless of who it was if I had the ability, to not do so IMO would condemn your soul to hell. Tonto 1 #21 January 15, 2004 Yeah, I'd go colour and photoshop to black and white. That way you can cover both the artistic/cultural mags, as well as the tabloids. As for the person who wanted to save the president - it's clear this is an act of God - and you should give God what he wants. tIt's the year of the Pig.
