AggieDave 6 #26 January 12, 2004 QuoteAs I recall, Barbara wasn't too thrilled about the idea of his last jump and that's probably the only constituent he really has to worry about at this point. Unofficially (basically it was said in conversation at a dinner party) Barbara stated that this was going to be his last jump, no matter what. She doesn't like it and doesn't like him doing this at this age. Bush Sr. agreed with her, but is very excited to get to do it again. Oh, no, I wasn't at the dinner party, BUT one of our jumpers was. Then again, he's the director of the Bush Library and was an advisor for Bush (41) when he was the VP...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." WrongWay 0 #27 January 12, 2004 Quote And as this is already turning into a political thread (it had to happen sooner or later), I am outta here. I agree. And for the record, I was just being a smartass. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.
ltdiver 3 #28 January 13, 2004 QuoteQuote It doesn't seem like Bush (41) was doing this for attention like so many politicians would have done - I get the feeling like he did this one for himself.... At this point in his life, he has nothing to lose or gain politically. As I recall, Barbara wasn't too thrilled about the idea of his last jump and that's probably the only constituent he really has to worry about at this point. I hope he makes the jump and I hope it goes well. Not for the sake of skydiving, but for him. From Joe Jenning's web site: "To make the challenge a little tougher, President Bush asked that the event be kept quiet. For him, this was really about a combat veteran coming to closure with a traumatic event of World War II, not about a politician running for office. Douva 0 #29 January 13, 2004 If anybody catches wind of this beforehand, please give me a heads ups, if you feel like you can without threatening national security. I was ticked I didn't find out about the previous jump in time to make the drive over to College Station. I'd really like to watch him land and maybe get D-20000 to sign my logbook. --Douva D-22772I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. jumpinfarmer 0 #30 January 14, 2004 I caught something on CNN a couple of months ago about this. It was a special about Bush and devoted about five minutes to his skydiving. The way he explained it was terific. He should be the spoksman for the USPA.
