ltdiver 3 #1 January 12, 2004 http://www.kxxv.com/main.cfm?ID=1&NewsID=3621&Type=Full Former President Bush plans one more skydive — (01/11/2004) (Pensacola, Florida-AP) -- Former President George Bush of Houston says he plans one more skydive. Bush told a crowd of 300 at the National Museum of Naval Aviation -- in Pensacola, Florida -- that he'll make his final jump when he turns 80 in June. Bush says his first skydive was ``non-elective.'' It happened in 1944 in the South Pacific when his torpedo bomber was shot down by Japanese forces. The Texan went skydiving in 1997 and again in 1999 for his 75th birthday. The museum artifacts include several related to the 41st president. Details of his sky-diving exploits also can be seen at Bush's presidential museum at Texas A-and-M in College Station. http://bushlibrary.tamu.edu/ ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #3 January 12, 2004 QuoteLet's all remind him not to bump his head on the way out. If you happened to be lucky enough to see his 3rd skydive (2nd AFF), you'd be very concerned! The news footage conveniently left out the tumbled exit, one AFFI being thrown off, and the other having a -very- hard time controlling Bush. How -that- happened was they wanted to prevent him from hitting his head like the time before and one instructor actually took Bush's head and pushed it -down- on exit...away from the top of the door! This put Bush into a de-arched attitude and the 'fun' began! If he -does- pull this one off, he better get it right this time! He's repeating Level II, ya know! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #5 January 12, 2004 QuoteMust be a slow learner No, he's just very tall. It was the JM's fault in forcefully pushing his head down on exit. What would -most- newbies do on their 2nd AFF skydive if their instructor did this to them? Out of a tailgate, no less... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
riddler 0 #6 January 12, 2004 Can't say I like any politician, but cheers to ol' George for having some fun in his old age. In fairness, I should point out I've bumped my head and just about every other part of my body on the way out the door. More than once. Out of curiosity, who does his AFF? I would guess the Golden Knights or someone with military ties.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

AggieDave 6 #14 January 12, 2004 Yup, there's all the details of his jump @ the Bush Library on the campus of Texas A&M. Oh, rumor is he's going to be jumping into the Library, or atleast the HUGE amount of land next to the library. That the GK will be doing the jump and we might be doing ground support. But that's all scuttlebutt.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

But that's all scuttlebutt. Cool! When Airspeed and Passion 8 came back from jumping for Bush (I believe just before he went up for his second AFF jump in '99), they talked about how incredible the experience was. They spelled out "G.B." and the number "75" in the air. Wish I had a picture of that! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Kramer 0 #16 January 12, 2004 I've seen video of his second jump (the one in '97). It was an AFF1...he actually did a pretty good job for an old guy. I say, good for him. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

At this point in his life, he has nothing to lose or gain politically. As I recall, Barbara wasn't too thrilled about the idea of his last jump and that's probably the only constituent he really has to worry about at this point. I hope he makes the jump and I hope it goes well. Not for the sake of skydiving, but for him.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
velo90 0 #18 January 12, 2004 It's the AFF instructors that need to be worried! Look what happened to Saddam H. after he tried to kill Bush Snr. Before you know it, all AFF instructors will belong to the axis of evil and Colin Powel will persuade Tony Blair that they have WMD. (Ways of Manipulating Deployment). riddler 0 #19 January 12, 2004 QuoteLook closely at the picture. Is this a Level II AFF JM position? I think they mean to do that. The AFF instructors are so good, they just have one holding on to him, while the other flies around and corrects minor problems with his body position.
