Think its cold where you are?

Recommended Posts

From the National Weather Advisory folks:

... ARCTIC AIR WILL RETURN TO SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND TONIGHT...
THE COLDEST AIR IN NEARLY TWO DECADES IS LIKELY TO AFFECT SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND... BEGINNING TONIGHT AND LASTING INTO FRIDAY.

THE NEXT SURGE OF FRIGID AIR WILL ARRIVE IN THE FORM OF AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT LATE THIS AFTERNOON. SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS WILL ACCOMPANY THE FRONTAL PASSAGE... ALONG WITH GALE FORCE WIND GUSTS.

TEMPERATURES WEDNESDAY WILL HOVER BETWEEN ZERO AND 10 ABOVE... WITH BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS... ESPECIALLY DURING THE MORNING HOURS.

CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO WORSEN THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY AS A REINFORCING SURGE OF FRIGID AIR OVERSPREADS NEW ENGLAND. THIS AIRMASS WILL LIKELY BE THE COLDEST AIR WE HAVE SEEN IN NEARLY TWO DECADES. IN ADDITION... THE FRIGID AIR WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF 25 TO 35 BELOW ZERO... AND RECORD COLD TEMPERATURES OF 5 TO 15 BELOW FOR MUCH OF THE AREA. EVEN CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS SHOULD SEE TEMPERATURES DROP TO AROUND ZERO.

IN ADDITION... A STORM HEADING OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING WILL LIKELY BRING ACCUMULATING SNOW TO THE SOUTH COAST OF RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS... AND POSSIBLY AS FAR NORTH AS THE CITIES OF HARTFORD... PROVIDENCE... TAUNTON AND PLYMOUTH. AS THE STORM INTENSIFIES AND PASSES TO OUR EAST... WE WILL FEEL ITS BLUSTERY EFFECTS THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY.

TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN TO REBOUND THIS WEEKEND AS THE CORE OF THIS FRIGID AIRMASS SHIFTS EAST OF NEW ENGLAND....

Its news like this that makes me wish I was in Arizona again...

Looks like we moved not a second too late. Still settling in here in Atlanta, but it sure was nice driving to the gym with my windows down :)
Don't worry Jen, the company is shipping me back for a week in Feb so I'm sure you'll have another cold snap then.

If this is in Celcius, then we had -25 without the windchill here last Saturday (Ontario, Canada). Heck, I even did a hop&pop!

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

Haven't picked a DZ yet. So far "The Farm" is looking promising when it opens up, but we're planning on visiting all the dz's in the area and making the choice from there.

I don't think we'll actually get out to a DZ until Feb though. Only got here Friday and still have quite a few more things to do around the house.

I'll be sure to look you up when we head out though.

Stay safe,

Sounds exactly like 2 days we had in chicago a week or so ago - SUCKS the big one.
I JUST LOVE it when we get a week of 10degrees as the high, esp when you can count on the windchill taking bout 10 - 20 degrees off that wonderfull number.

bundle up, we've already had numerous people die of this weather.

frostbite can set in w/i 30 seconds.

i'm just glad i'm not in NW Montana!!

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

No, I don't think it's cold where I'm at. It 75 here and I'm thinking about taking my bike out for a ride. Sorry! :D

I'm thinking the weather you posted is an average winter day here in Wisconsin. It doesn't really seem cold 'till it hits -15 during the day, without the windchills.

Then again, anything up here above 33 or 34, this time of the year, is t-shirt weather.

Glad to hear the move went as planned! Best of luck getting situated, and finding a new DZ.

We'll be seeing more of you two this summer right?

It was - 12 Saturday morning here in Western NY state. Suposed to be below zero for the next few days.
We like to complain about the heat durring the summer, then brag about the cold in winter. ***
hahaha! I spent 21 years growing up in buffalo (NY) in that cold freezing mess... now I'm in texas. Made 14 jumps last weekend in the wonderful weather!! hahaha;)
