badams 0 #1 January 16, 2011 Any experience with using the curved adhesive mount only with skydiving? Will it hold? Would welcome any other suggestions regarding the best way to mount this to the top of a skydive helmet.
virgin-burner 1 #2 January 16, 2011 every n00b has one, so it must be good! nah, honestly, should hold up well as long as you dont hit a door or the roof of the plane while moving in there.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. kawisixer01 0 #3 January 16, 2011 It's some sticky stuff dude. Clean the helemt well before and you should be good. I've jumped all season with just the adhesive it's it's still firmly in place. I saw a video once whenre they were pulling on the mount from different angles with lots of weight and the bracket was physically breaking before the sticky would let go. Ronaldo 0 #6 January 16, 2011 I had the same concern and did not want to take the risk of losing the camera so I drilled 2 holes and bolted it in place. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3911413#3911413 Please understand that it is recommended to have some kind of release mechanism for the helmet (chin cup cutaway). I’m working on it right now.Engineering Law #5: The most vital dimension on any plan drawing stands the most chance of being omitted
Arvoitus 1 #7 January 17, 2011 I'm only using the adhesive mount and it seems to stick on to the helmet just fine. I had one opening which was so hard that I fractured a rib and the camera slammed against the helmet even though the screw was tightened as hard as I could and the mount stayed on just fine.Your rights end where my feelings begin. linestretch 0 #8 January 17, 2011 Quoteevery n00b has one, so it must be good!.. It's been working for me. The tape on the bracket is pretty darn strong. I would place & let it sit for about 12 hrs (pretty sure the instructions say this).my pics & stuff!
robes 0 #9 February 14, 2011 I was setting up my new Go Pro on the weekend and just did not feel 100% on the helmet mount contact area etc. I have decided to go with a helmet mount from Cookie Helmets. Bolts to the helmet at 4 points. Adjust 360 degs. Low profile. Waiting for it now.
pjc 0 #10 February 14, 2011 They will come off with a bit of rough & tumble! Believe me I've been there.. Now got the Tonfly 'Line Hook' zkulls Go-Pro mount - at least there's a cutaway on the helmet!
