jfields 0 #55 January 7, 2004 Lawrocket, Try this site, and do a search for the most popular: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ In my case, I'm trying to use that as a factor to eliminate names. But it also interesting to track the popularity of names through the years. And I'm definitely with you on all three of your exclusion factors.

Muenkel 0 #58 January 7, 2004 Justin, You asked for uncommon but not freakish names and to leave out the jokes, so first off I won't recommend Hillary or Howard. In naming a child, you want something that is somewhat unique but also is not too trendy that is going to sound ridiculous when they are 50. So my suggestions are: Girl: Samantha, Ashley, Jamie, Hope or Monica. Boy: Samuel, Joshua, Eric, Shane or Christopher. Good luck picking out a name. jfields 0 #62 January 7, 2004 QuoteI always liked the name Hope (for a girl). It's a strong name and carries a lot but it's is full of good karma. The funny thing is that Hope was my wife's middle name. She hated it, so changed her middle name to her maiden name when we got married. So I think I'll take a pass on suggesting that one. hmatousek 0 #65 January 7, 2004 There is an awesome children's book called Hope was Here. It gave me a new perspective on the name. I didn't like it a first either but after reading that book it changed my mind. However, since your wife hated it enough to change it I am sure she would be against it. How about Makayla? I always liked that one too.Life doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!
