tunaplanet 0 #1 January 8, 2004 I am about a year away from having all the pieces in place to forming my own company. This is going to be a security consulting firm. Possible clients will be banks, corporate businesses, military instalations, etc... Military background is preferred but not required. Consulting and "troubleshooting" are the two main areas I will be concentrating on. I am mainly looking for individuals who posess phenominal computer skills in regards to security. If you are extremely knowledgable in this area, send me a PM or post here. This is about a year away, so nothing definite yet. Forty-two

PhillyKev 0 #4 January 8, 2004 You mean to tell me you're starting a company that needs to hire one of, if not the only, disciplines in the computer industry that is still an employee's market? You'd get off much cheaper if you just needed e-commerce programmers.
lawrocket 3 #5 January 8, 2004 Is this informational or physical security? And, my man, your timing in this, given the current optempo, is fantastic. My wife is hotter than your wife.

JoeyRamone 0 #7 January 8, 2004 The IT market is picking up very fast in Chicago. But what is hot now might not be hot 1.5 years out. Stay focused on your nitch. Companies always need good security consulants.
tunaplanet 0 #8 January 8, 2004 QuoteIs this informational or physical security? Both. I have 7 companies who are tentatively lined up. 5 out of the 7 require both physical and informational security consulting. And furthermore, 2 of the facilities are requesting a live troubleshoot. AggieDave 6 #10 January 8, 2004 What sort of physical security and where? I got out of the computer/phone security game a couple of years ago and am so far behind in current systems that I would be useless there. A few years ago, though...oh man, I've got some good stories.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

JoeyRamone 0 #13 January 8, 2004 I agree, Motorola just signed with TATA Consulting. There average bill rate for a java, vb, c++ programmer is 24.00 an hour. They can call me in 2 years when all there systems need to be fixed. Sure won't be 24.00 an hour..
SkydivingNurse 0 #14 January 9, 2004 Oh man, I really wish I had the requisite skills to even think about PM'ing you on this, a change of pace would be sooooo welcome about now.
Lee03 0 #15 January 9, 2004 It was sounding great until you said it required computer skills, that leaves me out as I go beyond computer illiterate, I'm computer stupid I've got the military background. Too bad you don't need people that are lacking computer skills.-------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
PhreeZone 20 #16 January 9, 2004 Score! So I guess 3 years experience in Information Security could actually pay off? And here I was thinking that setting up all these firewalls, doing pen tests, and designing antivirus stragies was my ticket to becoming an assistant network administrator lackyYesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
