What foods have you grown to love?

Recommended Posts

We all know that tastes change over time... so what foods did you used to dislike and came to love?

For me:

black olives
guava
mango
oysters

I continually try things I don't like again and again. And, sometimes, I surprise myself and actually enjoy them:) I even had a drink with pineapple the other day and thought it tasted pretty good:)

I used to hate mustard, but within the last 2 years I've grown a taste for it and I can't imagine a Subway sandwich without mustard!

The one thing that has still yet to change is my disgust for any kind of fruit drink. I hate orange juice, apple juice, grape juice...you name it. The smell of the juice makes me gag before I can even get it to my mouth. But I love the fruit themselves. I absolutely love oranges, apples, grapes, etc..... I guess I'm just a weirdo.
I'm so funny I crack my head open!

I grew to love:

Broccoli
Cooked Tomatoes
Black Olives
Sour Cream
Sweet Onions
kale (steamed and topped with vinegar oh baby yum)
Cream Cheese
Cheese cake (man do I love cheese cake now. Hated it as a kid except for that fake Kraft instacrap which I think is a waste now.)
Oh and
Red Wines - Merlot, Chianti, Cabernet, any red wine. I love wines now but hated them growing up.

Funny Iliked white wines as a kid but now find few that I enjoy.

Things I will never love
asparagus
spinach
scotch
hearts of palm
avocado
brussel sprouts
cooked cabbage
mayonaisse

edited to add: As with Nightingale I still think green olives suck.

Sheenster... I drink lots of juices, but only ones that have only juice in them. Not the crap that is loaded with preservatives and shit. I really like Indian River's grapefruit juice... yummy. Kenessaw has awesome OJ. I also used to hate mustard, I forgot about that one! I actually have like 9 types of mustard in my fridge now, lol!

jsaxton, Thanks! I might actually have to try grits again. I haven't tried them in years, but remember not liking them.

Nightingale, what is Horchata?

How you doing? :P

It took a while to acquire a taste for hard liquor.

You can keep liver and scrapple.
