dixieskydiver 0 #3 January 6, 2004 Their tracking looks insane, I have to wonder if it is camera angle/lens trickery. BRW this seems to be a Red Bull sponsored thing, that Felix guy that did that stupid helicopter stunt in SA is on here too. Seems to be a pretty good little special so far. quade 4 #4 January 6, 2004 I'll give a look at it tomorrow morning and let you know about anything that looks like creative camera work on the tracking shots.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
SkydivingNurse 0 #5 January 6, 2004 Wow, that was incredible! It's nice to see fox sports showing skydiving on a program other than you gotta see this. That was a beautiful show. Thanks for the heads up on that.
sdctlc 0 #6 January 6, 2004 http://www.reevolution.tv/main.php This is the show that had it. If you dont have broadband I would not bother. They have all the epsidoes on the site streamming. It takes a bit of digging but there are lots of jumping, skydiving, swooping. Had a really good one of the Blade Raid, Wings over Chichago, The above noted BASE episode, the Swoop meet in Cleveland. Also some items of interest were the Speed hang-gliding, the para-gliding. Lots of cool stuff though... Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" Lee03 0 #7 January 6, 2004 Wish I had known about it earlier, I missed it Would have liked to have seen it. No way I'd do it, but watching it is interesting to me.-------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

quade 4 #11 January 6, 2004 Ok, I looked at the section on tracking. Nope. No tricks other than the obvious really long assed lens so they can see him from thousands of feet away. This does have a side effect that makes the subject and background look a lot closer than what you're used to seeing. -Very- good camera work by the operators keeping these guys framed up from those distances. -Very- freekin' good tracks. Mike Vail's are awesome. The ONE comment I'd make is the cheat of making the expedition look like they only sledded and climbed when, uh, obviously they had a helicopter and it would be a LOT more efficient from a production stand point to fly them up the cliffs at least a couple of times.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Yes i noticed that too. They never showed a helicopter and made it a point to talk about hiking and climbing, but alot of the video was obviously shot from a helo. Some of those cliffs would have to of been multi day climbs but they showed them doing a couple of loads off each object. Definitely awesome tracking. Im not a base jumper but i thought they did a good job representing the sport.
