Casch 0 #1 January 4, 2004 with a job. I really really really hate my new job. It's a manufacturing job, printing circuit boards. Same shit over and over and over and over, repetative and I would rather watch paint dry. And it's only 20K a year before taxes, 12 hours a day. The only good thing is I get 3 and 4 day weekends. But It's a total hell. Someone out there has got to have something better! Help! I'm going insane....shit...back to work.

Skyrad 0 #7 January 4, 2004 Mate, listen. Have you got food in your stomach? Have you got a roof over your head? Is anyone trying to kill you right now? You've just met your childhood sweetheart and fallen in love. You are a hell of a lot better off than most people in this world my friend. You want a drink of clean water just get up and walk to the tap, you don't have to walk twenty miles for contaminated water to drink. So you're job sucks, don't worry. When I was your age I also had a crap job, now I'm doing OK. Count your blessings and keep your eyes open for a new job or plan a way to do what you want to do. The only limitations are the ones we place on ourselves. Chin up ol' boy! Lee03 0 #8 January 4, 2004 I would gladly trade places with you. You see, I don't have a job, I have been able to work only 4 month in the last two years. It took a year to find that job, I was there 4 months and got laid off. I WANT to work, and cannot find anywhere that will hire me I would give anything to have the boring job that you are complaining about making you so unhappy! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

ltdiver 3 #17 January 5, 2004 Go ahead and hate your current job. I had one that I hated when I put myself through the last 2 years of high school....I worked in a redwood lawn furniture factory cutting fabric and stacking wood. What -that- job gave me (besides the $$ I needed to complete that phase of education) was both the respect for the people who'd worked there, tirelessly, for 30+ years to support their families....and incentive to get the hell outta there and get a very good college education so I, myself, wouldn't be stuck in a mundane job like that the rest of my life. At such a young age, you have to realize that what you decide -now- will shape your -entire- life. Think wisely of where you want to be in 40 years and set up a plan on how to get there. Take the steps -now-! ltdiver PS: I worked all through my 6 years of University education as well, to support -that- habit, too. Work that you don't like is o.k. as long as it gets you exactly where you want to be in the long run. Nightingale 0 #21 January 5, 2004 if you're not happy- send out resumes. job hunt until you can make a lateral transfer or better to somewhere else. you have a job that's paying your bills right now. that means you can afford to be picky. keep sending out resumes and making calls til something you like comes along. and in the meantime (and future) go to school and get a degree. in ANYTHING. having a degree opens up so many doors. Several folks I work with are just as skilled as I am, with just as much work experience. However, I make $20,000 more than they do. The only difference? I spent four years (okay, three, I finished early) earning a degree. Should I stay at my current job, my college will have paid for itself in four and a half years. And I went to a damn expensive private school (and yes, I worked my ass off to pay for it). Sure, not everyone finds themselves in a similar situation, but its good to have options in life, and there are many employers who won't even speak to you if you don't have a degree. I have good friends who finished high school with me and went straight into a job, and friends who started college and never finished. almost every one of them now, at age 25 or 26 says that they wish they'd finished, not because they're very unhappy with their current lives, but because they'd have more opportunities if they had a degree. mailin 0 #25 January 5, 2004 Sorry you are unhappy in your job - it sux, truely. When I was 19 (only 6 years ago) I had what I considered to be the worlds suxiest job. I was one of those annoying people who would call you in the middle of dinner and ask you to do a survey on bubble gum. I considered myself lucky if the people only hung up, becuase most of the time people swore at me and called me some of the worst things imaginable. So I can understand not being happy. You are only 19, and from some of the posts here saying you don't know what being unhappy is yet, well... thats bull. It doesn't matter how old you are - unhappy is relative to your experience, no one elses - and you're unhappy now (I would be too - sounds totally boring, and long days too). But looking on the bright side will help you get through it. Save what money you can and start looking for a new job - in the end if the job gets the best of you (as my job did) you can rely on the small bit of savings you have to get something new. Its not easy, but hang in there. JenniferArianna Frances
