bbarnhouse 0 #332 December 5, 2003 QuoteI'm on that load too Perky, plus my mate Blair! fancy trying a BASE exit (if we're allowed)? All exits from the balloon require standard skydiving gear. (This means that a main and reserve parachute are required in your container.)
Aviatrr 0 #333 December 5, 2003 When landing in the main landing area, are there any rules against carving swoops? Either starting the swoop or ending it into the wind....but at some point being 90 or so off the windline. Mike
bbarnhouse 0 #334 December 5, 2003 The best advice I can give to anyone (and not directed soley at you Aviatrr) is the following:With dozens of world-class swoopers here, you aren't going to make a big impression no matter what you do (at least, not a good impression!) so you might as well go safe instead of big.Again, landing in the North (main)area is East to West or West to East only...no matter what the wind is doing. The first person down sets the pattern. Everyone else follows the pattern or lands off.
Aviatrr 0 #335 December 5, 2003 I'm certainly not trying to impress anybody...but I asked so I would know which area to land in based on what I wanted to do. I guess I'll be landing in the other landing area most of the time if I'd be breaking the rules in the main area. Mike

Ummm you can have a round in your container....as long as there are 2 parachutes BB thinks Vector is looking for trouble
VectorBoy 0 #338 December 7, 2003 Nope bets I'm not looking for trouble Its a serious question. Its a Base exit usually done off bridges. Canopy is out of the container and hanging down off the bridge in front of the daring jumper, jumper jumps out forward flips and is under his or her canopy or a ball of shit* (* that part is not allowed during base jumps). All of this is only going to happen if Jimmy P will loan me his VX anyway. The reason I ask is some manly balloon skippers don't care what you do as long as they look good on the video you shoot during your triple reverse flip hanging from above the gondola by the turnbucles. Others piss their shorts if you shake the basket more than the opening of the ulra cheap champagne they gently squueeeeeze open for the wuffo tourists who have been so still you would think they all had broomsticks installed rectally and bitch and moan if you want more altitude than 2200 feet. The real question is are we ballooning for skydivers or the home& garden network? Is the skipper a skipper or full of balloon juice?
bbarnhouse 0 #339 December 7, 2003 QuoteThe real question is are we ballooning for skydivers or the home& garden network To the first part of your statement....I am aware. Secondly, as the balloon takes off from Skydive Arizona, it is considered a skydiving operation. Sorry folks, thats just the way it is.
brycewitcher 0 #340 December 8, 2003 Hey Guys, Gals and Badgers: As we get closer to the big event, tuck this away in your helmet: Bring pixie food. Betsy's gonna be really busy taking care of all of us and will need it --- pixies eat too. This pixie loves chocolate (dark?), home-baked chocolate chip cookies, and espresso. (How sophisticated.) Prior to hangin' around with B^2, I used to think that pixies ate mushrooms and dew drops. Who knew?
QuickDraw 0 #341 December 8, 2003 I believe Betsy likes white chocolate... otherwise i'm in big trouble. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning

Luna 0 #345 December 8, 2003 If you can get into a warehouse club, like Sam's, BJ's, or Costco, they will probably have exactly what you are looking for in exactly the right quantity. I bought a bunch at a Sam's several years ago. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information! Most grocery stores should have them. If they're not in the aisle with other disposable cups, look in the aisle with bathroom stuff....they are often labeled as "bathroom cups" for some reason. I've gotten 'em from Publix and Albertsons here in Florida.. Mike
