What a waste!" There's just something not natural about seeing a skydiver on her belly with no rig on. And Rosa, you look pretty damned good in those pics. Reverse of me - I look better with a helmet/goggles on than without . I'm just fearful that this belly flying in tunnel thingy will pervert you from the True Path Of FreeFly. However, I doubt you'll how any problems finding male FF coaches, so there is hope that you may yet be removed from the influence of the vertically challenged. arlo 0 #42 November 24, 2003 george (one of the guys that works at skyventure) took the pics of the tunnel camp. he does a great job of it, too. dave, you're right - the pics are taken from inside the antichamber thru the open doorway. that is one of the only times a camera is allowed inside the tunnel doors. for the person mentioning wearing weight belts in the tunnel: like with any skydiving, you have to maintain the same fallrate as the rest of the skydivers, so weight is very common in the tunnel...as it should be in the air during a normal skydive. most people don't have the same fallrate, so weightbelts (or vests) are used to compensate for it. if weight isn't used, it tends to build in bad habits during your skydiving (i.e., the heavier person sticks his/her ass up in the air in an attempt to dearch/slow down creating BAD body position/muscle memory). the tunnel just makes this very evident. if you don't use weight and you're arching your ASS off to keep up, what happens if you have to move or take a grip? as soon as you change your superarch position, you become less aerodynamic and you pop-up/float/bellycork. the closer you are to a natural arch position, the better your control surfaces work, the less time you spend trying to maintain fallrate and the more time spend on remembering the dive. :) weightbelts are std equipment like a jumpsuit or alti. p.s. rosa, you did great! ltdiver 3 #44 November 24, 2003 Quote...I wore 10 lbs. of lead, at most. After I became more tired, I wore about 12-14 lbs. In the pics with Eliana, she wore 18 lbs., and I wore 12-14. (She told me that she wore 28 lbs. in the tunnel when she flew with the Russians!) One of the male campers wore about 28 lbs.(belt & vest) while flying a 3-way with an Instructor and myself. Again, I wore between 10-14 lbs. Yikes!! You're scaring me, Rosa! I normally wear 16# of lead filming 4-way video. They'll have to fill a rig with lead to keep me down in the Perris Tunnel! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #46 November 24, 2003 Oh, you have sooo much experience as a skydiver that I am sure that you will be just fine in that tunnel. Whatever works in the tunnel is completely personal for each person. Also, some of us females in the camp requested less speed, at times. (It can be rough on us working over three days per camp.) Of, course, when flying with several others, it's every man for himself on wind speed. LOL! The bigger guys usually have the upper hand...after all, they can't be on the "net" the whole time...LOL! Btw, I have been told that wearing a weight belt in the tunnel is much more comfortable than on the plane. Edited: Arthur, have you tried to keep that arch when spining a fast 360 or when taking quick multiple-sequenced grips? Trust me, you will pop up with that kind of limb movement. (Read what Arlo wrote. It's true.)
