AggieDave 6 #1 December 24, 2003 Can reposting be good? YUP. That it can. See, there's the spirit of the law and the letter of the law. The letter says (according to Ivan) NO reposts. Here's the spirit of the law...reposts can be good, sometimes something good is posted, then it gets buried in posts and people miss it. It depends a lot on what time and what day it was posted on. For instance, if it was posted Saturday afternoon, it'll be gone before most people get a chance to even read anything on DZ.com. Thus an occasional repost of good material is OK. Now, if you're asking stuff like "should I downsize, what about the TSA, how do I swoop, etc" then you will be beaten with a stick for not doing a search.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." lawrocket 3 #3 December 24, 2003 Actually, I never read anywhere a statute, regulation or rule against reposting. Of course, the spirit of this site is to avoid wasting bandwidth so that the good and gentlemanly sangiro doesn't have to foot a bigger bill. But I also understand the re-post issue. Sometimes, even bumping a post may be difficult. The point of the first post may be lost in the hijacking that ensued. Also, people like me can be irritated at looking through 47 posts in a thread when many may not be on point. I agree with you, Aggie. But the re-post police have a point, too. Save the Head Honcho some money, if you can. Otherwise, re-post away. My wife is hotter than your wife.
goose491 0 #4 December 24, 2003 Here's a reason why reposting is good. Sometimes, it means free beer! (read into the thread a bit) Edit: Around post #6 My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
larry 0 #5 December 25, 2003 WARNING! THE FOLLOWING QUOTE IS A REPOST!QuoteOff topic, but I just want to add that this repost police stuff is a bit asinine, especially in this Talk Back forum. (No offense Ivan) I don’t read the posts often enough to know everything that was ever said, there are many new posts per day here. This is like going into a bar and not being allowed to say anything unless you know what everyone has said there for the last week. If it bothers you that it is a repeat, don’t read it. There are others that might not have seen it yet. Just my humble opinion. Honesty don’t want to rattle any cages. I agree post whoring is not a good thing, but come on, there has to be a happy median...“Now click your heels together 3 times so you can return to Kansas to live in poverty with your teetotaling, dirt farming aunt and uncle!” paraphrased Prof. Farnsworth
flyangel2 2 #6 December 25, 2003 I agree. I don't log on every day, and miss things. So, repost awayMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.
