gaz511 0 #76 February 26, 2011 Maybe he has mad skillz, perhaps he is differnt! Some kids are just too cool for school. With that in mind, I reckon he should have a velo 75 main and just to be more cool have a velo as a reserve too, but say an 84 as he'll want a bigger canopy after poohing him self under a mal. Why buy big now only to downsize every 3 jumps as he's just so awesome under canopy and was born with all the experience and skill he'll never need to learn, we shouldn't hold back his progression! Why learn how to fly in a trainer plane when you could just borrow an f16? What could possibly go wrong?
mjosparky 4 #77 February 27, 2011 QuoteHere is the response I got from PD. So it seems that it is illegal to load a reserve over 1.4 under 500 jumps, but only if it is a PD reserve. QuoteThanks for contacting PD on this. You won’t find the wording in an FAR about the 500 jumps, but rather it is in our owners manual, and the FAA requires users to operate within the manufacturers operating limitations. I hope this information addresses your questions adequately. Best regards, Rusty Vest This has been discussed over and over again long before you were in the sport. PD can say what ever they want but it is not the law. There is nothing in Title 14 CFR’s to support their contention. I don’t understand why you have such a problem understanding this.
