Free BEEEEEEEEEER!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well now that I got your attention with the "free beer" slogan...i have come up with an interesting question.

skydiving has the best beer rules...all the firsts and beer lines and all that good stuff that have us drinking for free usually at the end of each day at the DZ! however...most people who do have a first, or do something worthy of buying the bottles dont usually do...and say..."oh yea...ill get you another time"!

my question is...how many cases or kegs or truck loads of beer do you think you owe with all the times you have either said you will buy beer and never did, or just were sneaky and didnt tell anyone about it!!!

lets get those taps going!

Me? If its beerable offense, I buy beer.

I did slack on a couple cases, but that was with the blessing of the S&TA since I refurbished SD Aggieland's professional 2-keg beer dispensor. (Its a $1500 unit that we got for a song since it was broken...total I think we spent $50-60 in some random parts I needed and it works like a champ now, it even looks really good).

beer rules...

When I jumped in South Florida, a lot of guys would claim a "Gold Wings Exemption". This rule seemed to recognize that once someone has a 1,000 jumps to their credit, they shouldn't have to buy any more darned beer for the more junior skydivers. That makes sense to me.

However, then I moved to Texas and when I offered forth that claim of exemption after a "first", those darn Texans wouldn't honor the rule. Go figure... :D

I've only been asked to buy beer twice...once for my 'initial' solo jump on the static line progression, (because I used the 'f' word in front of a TM) and once on my birthday/'A' License jump...of course on the birthday jump I also owed the rigger a bottle of whiskey which I paid up - he packed the reserve that saved my sorry butt on that hop! ;)

I've only ever seen people drinking alcohol at the DZ once, so I don't bring it out there anymore unless asked. And like I said, it was only twice.

I've never shown up at a gathering without beer (however admittedly the last 2 times I left it in the truck; they had TONS of it and didn't need anymore, so I figured I'd let my hubby and father in law drink it.

The only way it is acceptable to cheese out on beer,is to offer yourself to the beer gods on a cloudy day. If the sun comes out ,you are forgiven. If it doesn't the malmonster will get you.:o

If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.

surely advertising free beer, then not providing, is a beerable offense?

i am not providing beer because i usually always do (expect on those silly first cases like...its the first time you jumped under 50 degrees..oh buy beer!)....but however, we can harass all the people who havent bought beer at the DZ and that my friend is where the free beer comes from!
