I personally love the idea of letting the Iraqi people put him on trial. I hope they convict him, and have a fast, swift public execution. Somewhere in there, I think it would be awesome if we brought him over to the US for a day or two to visit the White House, and meet President Bush. That would make for some memorable news footage. Michele 1 #14 December 14, 2003 Either the Hague or other UN court, or the Iraqi people should try him. The difficulty I have with the Iraqi people trying them is the stability of the country and the non-existence of any sort of established trial system. I have a fear that they will, out of revenge and not cool headed thought, stone him or, as suggested, gas him. It just doesn't seem to be a good solution at the moment. The Hague does not have the death penalty, however, and that should be an option in my opinion. I don't think the US should try him exclusively, in any event. Your thoughts? -Kramer What I would like is to see him beheaded with a sword at the base of that toppled statue, after being paraded around Iraq with plenty of rotten vegetables on hand for people to throw. Or, as a character in Shogun, buried up to his neck and passersby invited to hack away at his neck with a bamboo saw. Lots of imaginative demises...BUT Saddam Hussein is technically a Prisoner of War, and by the Convention, cannot be made a spectacle of for public amusement or whatever. Is he a war criminal? I'm guessing the Hague is getting involved at this point. Keep this cat alive and in our custody for a while. Treat him very well, and get as much information out of him as possible. Of course, this could take months or even years. Humble him, make him live exactly the opposite life he killed, stole, raped and mamed to get....as far away as possible from the lavish life he was in. Whatever it is, it needs to be done by legal internatioal war crime laws. We need to be better than he was. Put him in a small, dank, poorly lit cell with no entertainment or pictures.
