mark135 0 #2 March 9, 2003 lol. A good freind of mine with the 82nd once told me just before we exited at 2500 due to clouds. "this aint shit brother, try doing it with a round, at night, with 80 pounds of shit strapped to you at 800 ft.........seeee yaaaaaa!." He then lept out of the plane._______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
slotperfect 7 #3 March 9, 2003 Howdy! I too made my first jump during my Army Airborne training. And yes, it DOES mean quite a lot, although free fall and piloting a ram-air canopy are quite different. You have an open invitation to join me at Raeford Parachute Center for a tandem jump, or you can just go for AFF!?!?! Raeford is not that far from Lexington. If you want to learn more about Raeford or anything at all, PM me and I'll PM you back my phone number. Arrive Safely John

Caseadilla 0 #5 December 13, 2003 Start jumping as soon as possible and watch as many skydiving movies and vidoes as possible. You can also learn quite a lot off of this site. One more piece of advice, keep drinking

sdgregory 0 #10 December 13, 2003 Quote I am Army Airborne qualified, but I know that doesn't count for shit. Ummm I was an Army Airborne Qualified Marine. Landing with a PRC-77 radio, spare battery, all my 782 gear a rifle and the POS Kevlar helmet at night from 800 feet under a T-10 or the 101 steerable rounds was no bullshit. It sucked. I landed in an irrigation ditch and was folded in half once. Just because it is not a "skydive" does not negate its value. Do not sell yourself or your experiences short my friend. edited for spelling, i think

andy2 0 #13 December 14, 2003 check out The Skydiving Place. It's right near Fort Bragg. It's an awesome dropzone, with some military guys out there, plus a bunch of non military jumpers. They can probably work out a faster progression for you since you've already made some static line parachute jumps.
