Then of course, I'd make a grand exit by telling them all to fuck off and I can tell I'm not welcome so I'm leaving, then one or two would beg me to stay while the rest of the people are saying "Oh good christ... why did you tell them to stay?" to their monitor. Then I'd say "well since you all obviously love me, I'll stick around!" Then maybe post a few pictures of myself (maybe even fake ones) and see if I can get someone to flirt with me. The internet is a great tool for self-validation.

Edited to add: Then Ivan would have to remind me that "Fuck you all I'm leaving" has been posted before, and I should have searched for it before posting. But not before 8 other people posted "Uh-oh, here comes Ivan!"

I think there are 2 different issues being confused here.

1) Does making 1 tandem make you a skydiver, etc
2) Is Kat69 a troll

I don't think anyone here would snub somneone just because of how many jumps/tandems they've made. If you are a troll, however, you would get snubbed. Let's not confuse the two.

?? I've seen a lot of heterosexual people here spending hours on boobie threads, posting half-naked pictures of their girlfriends and wives, talking about how hot this or that skychick is, and replying vehemently to this very thread "definitely hetero! Women only!"

I think people notice sexuality discussions more often when one of the discussers is homosexual. We notice the unusual, and homosexuals are in the minority.

I'm not french and I don't ride motorcycles. From reading your posts it sounds like you see yourself on the outside of some group at your DZ that you want to be a part of. Your going to have to work that out on your own, and it has nothing to with me. I am a videographer and have been for over 5 years. Clarely, I spend a lot of time with tandems, and as mentioned before, I enjoy working with them and do everything I can to make their jump special. Aside from that, I'll help anyone any way I can, and I answer any question any newbie has.

This thread is about people who make one jump and think that immediately makes them a skydiver. I disagree, and said so respecfuly, along with my reasoning. How you could derive from that tht I am a skygod in a clique who talks down on newbies is beyond me.

ACTUALLY.. my point was that at our DZ we tend to be much more accepting of new jumpers and to new people, THAT is one of the reasons I jump there. When I started back into the sport after a long layoff, everyone was very helpful and there is no cliqueshness. When I was jumping in the mid to late 1970's and early 80's there WAS quite a bit of it at the place I was jumping and I refferred to that. ONe of the reasons many people do not continue on is the vibe they get from the DZ they go to. I have seen it and experienced it. The willingness to help and be inclusive is one of the things that attracted me to my current DZ.

My point was simple... if someone comes to the DZ .. a FJC student or even a tandem jumper who is doing it for the first time.. is treated with respect and the people are friendly... they will find it easier to come back. If Kat wants to call herself a skydiver... since she made a skydive... it takes nothing away from me. My reactions were to your comments...

I have seen that kind of hangin with my skydiver buds go way too far towards cliqishness/exclusivity in the past and fostered an atmosphere and a vibe I did not want to be around. To me being a skydiver is about skydiving... throwing your body out of the plane... and having fun in the sky..Yes I had the skills and the jump numbers to hang with them.. but why??? Since Kat is jumping at the DZ I go to.. if she wants to continue on... we will welcome her into our little piece of crowded sky. I too will probably be doing video on tandems this coming summer....but I will do a lot more with my camera while freeflying.

So... back to the original point.. She may be very young... and enthusiastic...and really j azzed to be starting out in a new sport... perhaps there was a bit too much information.... but there are PLENTY of people who are regulars on this site.. who are just as guilty... and some of them I have jumped with...and some I hope to jump with in the future....especially when they get to be hot freeflyers. Maybe in this case she will get to be an accomplished rock hopper... since we have quite a few around our DZ who...uh... participate in that activity clandestinely
