skymama 37 #101 December 2, 2003 Sweet! Kelli, why don't you post a list of who is manifested for it so people will know if they remembered to tell you or not.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
TribalTalon 0 #102 December 2, 2003 consider me and my best friend Aaron in.... we loooooove to rock climb. havent done it in like 3 years now though. There used to be a bad ass indoor climbing gym near us that we frequented, but it closed down we dont have any gear at all tho... from what i read there will be spare rigs to use, right? Ronnie 0 #103 December 2, 2003 Shoes can be rented at REI in Tempe. It is on the corner of Priest and Southern, just north of the 60 and just east of the 10. The warmest places to go at Queen Creek are The Mine and The Pond areas. There is a good range of difficulty at each place, so everyone should find something to do, or not if that is what they are looking for. The climbs are fairly short in those areas, but it is still pretty fun. Ronnie

alanab 0 #106 December 2, 2003 so its the 29th? how far away is it? will there be rappelling gear (ropes, rappell devices) i have a harness and a beaner, but no stuff
skycat 0 #107 December 2, 2003 Yep it will be on the 29th and via a PM I received from someone who jumps at SDA Queens creek is only about an hour from the DZ, while the next closest place is 3 hrs. Derek is planning on bringing all his rappelling stuff including static ropes and devices. So you shouldn't need anything but your harness, shoes, and beaner. There are also several other people who said they would bring stuff so hopefully we will be outfitted for doing lots of things.Fly it like you stole it! VanillaSkyGirl 6 #108 December 2, 2003 Finally after all these years, I will climb a little ... Kelli, my BF and his gear are not coming out to Eloy, so I will be going with only my gear, which is only my personal shoes, harness, caribiner and chalk bag. I hope that's OK. Also, my name is Vanillaskygirl, not Vanillaskychick.
skycat 0 #109 December 2, 2003 oops, sorry...I fixed it. Your personal gear is just fine, no need for anything extra.Fly it like you stole it!
hmatousek 0 #110 December 2, 2003 I would love to climb!!!!! I will bring what little gear I have. HeatherLife doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!
hmatousek 0 #111 December 2, 2003 Just wondering how the ride situation would work. I was debating renting a car, if we climb after new year's day then I would be able to drive. If we have enough drivers I'll skip renting the car and would go any day. HeatherLife doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful!
CanuckInUSA 0 #112 December 2, 2003 I will likely have my Jeep Wrangler with me meaning that I can take an additional 2-3 people (depending on gear). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
hmatousek 0 #113 December 2, 2003 Just found the date. Sorry didn't read far enough down. If there is a need for more drivers I will get the car earlier. I have lots of experience climbing but am really not that great of a climber. I spent most of my climbing days belaying kids at Devil's Lake in WI (the best midwest climbing around). I am great at teaching (that's what I do). If people need a belaying class I could help with that. HeatherLife doesn't have to be perfect in order to be beautiful! CanuckInUSA 0 #115 December 2, 2003 Quotebut i dont have special shoes. i dont need them for rappelling do i? If all you are interested in is rapping, no you don't need any specialized shoes. The climbing shoes are nice and will make climbing easier. But if there are enough features (or cracks), then a decent pair of running shoes might do the trick.
