AggieDave 6 #1 November 21, 2003 SpinDoctor came into College Station yesterday morning. So what did we do? We opened the DZ up, got our pilot up there and we did some jumps. After that, TurtleSpeed took them to Freebirds, then we were off to The Texas Hall of Fame, which is a large country dance hall. He had never seen a place like that before, only in movies, so he got a kick out of it. My girlfriend and I even got him out on the dance floor for the Cotton Eyed Joe. Oh, him and his friend stated that they've never seen so many big trucks until they came to Texas. Alright, Turtlespeed, your turn, fill in everyone with yall's trip to the Dixie Chicken and the Dry Bean.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." turtlespeed 226 #2 November 21, 2003 Well, it's a bit foggy, we tried to find parking near the Dixie Chicken . . . finally, we did. So we walk in there and get two Texas sized beers, Liters, I think. Dos equis for me, and shiner for him. So we just talked and chatted and were "Standin on the corner, wathin all the girls go by." A question was asked, " Are all the birds here like this?" I just grinned and said no, not all, but most. We went from there(with our beer) tried to get into the Bean with them - heh, needless to say the scenery was pretty good at the Chicken anyway, so back we went. So, about half way through our beers we get the bright idea to go play pool. We didn't lose a game all night, even though the guys we were playing started comming up with all kinds of funky rules that I have never even heard of in bar room pool. It was so funny watching them try to decipher or strategy. The one guy was getting all upset, even thoug we were paying for the games, they were still losing. And not very good sports. He'd break and run three or four, then the other guy would make one, play safe, and then I'd kick the rest in and leave SpinDoctor the 8 or vice versa. One of the funniest things I've heard in a long time: "Shite, you mean there are really people that actually do run around in big cowboy hats and boots and big buckles? I though that was just on the Telly! Nope, we really do that here. I think he enjoyed the experiance. He was also rather impressed that the DZ owner, Tspillers would go out of his way so far to open the DZ up just 'cuz he was in town. (I didn't tell him that we like to jump here though Thanks from me as well Todd.) We had a blast. I'm definately paying for it today though - I think I finally dropped him off at AD's house at 230 and made it home and in bed by 3. Whew - I think the Texas women will have him coming back around during his next holiday though. At first he didn't believe that an English accent could melt a pretty country girls heart, I think he gets it now.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
freeflir29 0 #3 November 21, 2003 Good story.....Yes...I remember the night we took a Seth Affrikaan to a big country bar near my house. He ended up getting a very nice looking lady to FLY him home in a 172. ASSHOLE!!! (Sorry...just jealous)
SpinDoctor 0 #4 December 3, 2003 Sorry for the late response - it's been a bit mad here.... Firstly thanks to Todd and Kathy for opening up the DZ.. I hadnt realised that they didnt actually open on Thursdays. Thanks to the pilot for taking us up to altitood. OK... College Station... wow... it is Chixville, TX, USA. Gotta go see... Thanks to Todd, (the other guy, sorry) AggieDave and TurtleSpeed for jumping with me. Thanks for showing us around the eateries and the evening hostelries. Thanks Turtle for ferrying me around said hostelries. Thanks to AggieDave for letting us use your couch and crashing over. (I think i left my shower gel in your bathroom... you can keep that ) Skydive Aggieland is one of the smallest DZs i have been to (but i've not been to many) and it's a very very friendly place. Thanks once again for having me over. It goes without saying that anytime you're in the UK - then I am more than happy to return the compliment. (oh and bring my shower gel) It's a shame that I couldn't stay over the weekend - I bet College Station and the DZ get pretty rowdy! That's maybe something to put on my 'to do' list. Catch y'all soon!!----------------------- Connextion: British 8 Way Team www.bodyflight.co.uk -----------------------
