marks 0 #26 December 2, 2003 QuoteQuoteor the people who jump there will do anyone any good. Actually.....I have some good friends that jump there. No....I won't mention names to protect the guilty. I jumped there for several months when I first moved back to Georgia. Then I found greener pastures. I also know SEVERAL of their staff members that BAILED on them cause they couldn't stand the bullshit anymore. Some still go back on weekdays because they skydive for a living and need to make the money. No problem. Doesn't bother me. I'm just glad that I have the means to avoid them. In fact...last time I was there I even refused to buy soft drinks from the machine in the packing area. Instead...I drove to the store. I could really give a shit less about Ben and Cary. I just hate that they give SO many people a bad eperience with skydiving. Especially when it comes to students. I even hate going to that airport though. Just because there is a picture of a plane in the FOB that my Dad used to own. Well...at 90 some hours the FREAKIN ENGINE flew apart. I had a forced landing in Butler Georgia. Guess who rebuilt that engine.......Unfortunately it wasn't Ben or Cary....but it was a guy there at the airport. Wonder if he does maintenance on their skydiving planes? dont quote me on this.. but im 100% sure that the maintnance is done at caralina sky sports for the king air. the cessna 205 and the otter.. marks 0 #29 December 2, 2003 QuoteYa, I realise it is part of ASC's mass marketing / false advertising scam. I was trying to be sarcastic. Derek i dont see how you could see this as false advertizing. it clearly states it is a part of the 1800 skyrides network... how could it be false? im guessing they have a dz or two that participate with skyrides in that area so they are now marketing it.... whay is that false advertizing? 1800 skyrides is not all about skydiving... it is all about buissness.... in the area of ballooning hang gliding and skydiving.... you know... this kinda gets fun sometimes.... chaoskitty 0 #37 December 2, 2003 Quoteand what do i have to get burned by?.... You should know better than to ask.... but you did! Well.. if you were someone looking for "the experience of a lifetime".. wanting to make a tandem, or surprise someone you love with a tandem as a birthday gift, and you were told that the drop zone is 20 minutes out of Nashville.. and you plan your day accordingly... then you realize as you're crossing the Georgia border that you've been lied to... I'd call that getting burned. LOTS of people have called Tennessee drop zones and questioned if they are really in Tennessee. This is a direct result of ASC lying to them. If ASC wants to say that they're 20 minutes out of Nashville, then they need to put up shop in Smyrna. Otherwise, SAY they are in Georgia!! Some people will probably still drive that far. I made that road trip plenty of times when I was doing AFF. I still make fun jumps there when I happen to be in Atlanta. It really is a shame, because ASC is a kick ass dropzone with lots of talented jumpers and instructors. Its a shame that their own business practices have turned so many others off and created their own bad reputation. I can see both sides of the coin, and I dont care nearly as much as it appears. It just pisses me off that ASC is so eager to lie to people who are just looking to have fun.

I don't kow, but I do know there is no "Skydive Charleston" in South Caolina, like the web page claims, hence my statement of false advertising. If the DZ doesn't exist, how can they claim "At Skydive Charleston, you will be accompanied on your skydive by the most experienced skydive professionals in South Carolina!"? The web page is advertising a DZ that doesn't exist. I think you are saying that one (or more) of the DZ's in the area get sent any business the web page generates (Blue Sky Adventures and Skydive Walterboro) and Skydive Charleston doesn't exist. That is misleading at best and false advertising at worst. Derek

It looks like someone is advertising for a DZ that doesn't exist that is a member of 1-800 SKYRIDE to me. I don't have a problem w/ ASC or 1-800-SKYRIDE (I said twice now, more free advertising). I do have a problem with false advertising. No big surprise that the pictures aren't of SC and there is no directions to the DZ.......... So you agree they are advertising for a DZ that doesn't exist. Therefore you agree that it is false advertising. Derek
