VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 December 2, 2003 Nightingale celebrated her 25th birthday today in the sky! I am not sure if she going to be posting about her day, but I wanted to congratulate her and thank her for such a nice afternoon. We met at Elsinore earlier today, where Nightingale jumped (for the first time at this DZ) with Ed as her instructor. Then, Nightingale did her very first solo on the sunset load!!! YAYAYAYAY!!!!! Her smile was soooo huge when she was done. I know that she had been anxious to do her very first solo, but it looked like she had a great time! She was jumping with so many changes (equipment, instructor, DZ, etc.), but she still kept her cool throughout. She even taught me how to pack at the end of our day! Good for you, Kris. You ROCK!!! We were all so proud of you, girl! On a side note, I am also a little proud of myself, for finally going to the DZ. Since my Florida attack, I had been too frightened to go out much...even to my own DZ, which I love. Today, I told the DZO and Betsey-(much loved DZ mama hen) about what happened in Florida, and they understood. They were so comforting. Karl (the DZO) took me for a ride on the plane before I jumped (which was when I took pics of Kris). He pointed out everything inside and outside the plane, and he even dove the plane REALLY steep after Kris jumped out. I was screaming!!! (LOVED IT!) I finally jumped a sunset load solo right after Kris to make sure that she wasn't last out, although neither one of us was as there was a high-altitude hop'n'pop. Weeeeeeee freefall, at long last!!! Anyway, I hadn't able to force myself to go to the DZ before today, and it was killing me inside. I felt OK today, but I did have someone walk me to my car when it got dark. Babysteps... newshooter12 0 #4 December 2, 2003 sounds good to me... i can't wait to fly camera somtime in the future, especially for stills. seeing people smiling, enjoying what they love, is just great. don't worry it won't be till a lot closer to 500 or so... (for the people who worry) it was kind of funny when my camera flier, now friend, on my first jump asked me how i was going to mount my betacam and tripod on a helmet...
