Kramer 0 #1 December 1, 2003 I was kicking around the idea of coming down to Florida for a few days on my X-Mas break and making my AFF Jumps. I live in Indiana and really don't want to wait around for a nice somewhat warm day to jump (won't be for quite a while now...). Anywho, if I came to Florida, what DZ should I jump at? Could I live there for a few days? What airport would I want to fly into? Anyone wanna pick me up? Haha...this is just a dream at this point, but if I hear the right words, it could quickly become a reality... Lemme know, thanks. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!! skymama 37 #2 December 1, 2003 You would have your best luck at getting the most jumps in at the larger dz's. Those would be Deland, Z-hills, Sebastian and Lake Wales. For Z-hills, fly into Tampa, for the others, fly into Orlando. The major airports are at least an hour away from all those dz's (I think), and since it will be Christmas time and people might be busy, you might be better off getting a car or checking into shuttle services for hotels that are close to the dz you choose. You will get great training at any of the dz's that I listed. You can also camp at any of them also and I think most of them have bunk houses in the area too. Don't forget to book time at the tunnel! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Stacy 0 #3 December 1, 2003 tampa intl is about 40 mins frm ZHills. Lots of people flying in over the holidays (december). give the DZ a call if you are interested and they may have rides available or people willing to give ya a lift. Worth a shot. Camping is free, the showers are wonderful and there are nightly dinners during the christmas/holiday boogie for like 6-7$. Hardly a need to leave the DZ, but if yo do there is a kmart/walmart within 5 miles. __
weegegirl 2 #4 December 1, 2003 Ooh, ooh, go to Skydive SoBe... great AFF instructors, and a beautiful site! Plus, a lot of us Michigan folk are heading that way for christmas/new years! gonna be one big par-tay!
Kramer 0 #5 December 1, 2003 Excellent, thanks for all the info ladies. I like the ZHills idea the best. If I came, it wouldn't be until like Jan. 4-8ish, so the X-mas crowds would probably be gone, not sure how much that'd effect your advice. I'm looking into cheap airfare to Tampa right now. Bless you all. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
Stacy 0 #6 December 1, 2003 also call ahead and let them know you're coming in specifically for AFF. It's generally good for the DZ to know your time frame and that you are there specifically for that purpose. either call or shoot the DZ an email. __
Nightingale 0 #7 December 1, 2003 I flew into Orlando (bigger airport, so more and cheaper flights), rented a car, and drove to Tampa. You can always rent the car, drive yourself to Tampa, and then turn the car in at a Hertz or whatever in Tampa. The drive is only like two hours, so it isn't bad at all, and it was nice to see some of Florida.
Darius11 12 #8 December 1, 2003 I am doing the same thing. I love my DZ but cant wait till Apr. So i am going to Deland to finish AFF and maybe even get enough jumps for my A. Kramer 0 #9 December 1, 2003 QuoteYou can always rent the car, drive yourself to [the DZ] Yeah, I'm only 19, so I'm pretty sure I can't rent a car. Otherwise it's a fine idea. I'm checking out priceline.com for tickets right now. If I can just trick someone into picking me up from the airport, I should be good to go. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!! Nightingale 0 #10 December 1, 2003 there is a place at the orlando airport that will rent a car to 18 yr olds... I forget the name, tho... golden eagle or something like that. if you call the hertz there, they can give you the name.

Kramer 0 #12 December 1, 2003 Sweet, you know everything! Priceline is dicking me over on airline fares right now, I'm gonna have to settle for like 150 round trip, which I guess isn't terrible... -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
