Moving on ...

Recommended Posts

Hey all!
Well what an eventful afternoon. My life is about to change radically. Today was the day my evil bosswoman found out that I am leaving the company .... shit thing is, somebody told her before I got a chance to, and she confronted me. But at the end of the day the deed is done, and I'll still be leaving on a good note (her words).

Next step? Finish my year off here .... then start off 2004 doing something completely different.

Bye bye corporate bullshit
Hello paradise.

I'm going to Thailand indefinately to teach English. I wanted a change in my life, and change is what I'm getting.

Moving to a country on the other side of the globe, on my own, and I won't know a single person. I can't wait! B|

And McDuck .... I'll be seeing you at the Thai Boogie. And maybeGros Fion, SkyDan and all the other skydivers from that part of the world? B|

WOW! Congrats! That's awesome! I don't know if I could personally do that but the thought has crossed my mind a time or two. I wish you the best of luck in your new adventure!

Have fun !

My sister moved to Taiwan to open a school to teach English (from 1985 through 1988). She loved it, and said the best part was just observing the foriegn culture.

Very friggin cool!!

Do you know Thai? Do you have to know a country's language to go teach english there? How'd you hook up w/ this program?

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

Hi Erica

It's really not a complicated thing. I chose Thailand over Taiwan and Japan because it's easier to organise work, from what I've heard. Basically, they like you to have some sort of tertiary education. I've got a diploma in journalism, and I'll be doing a CELTA course when I get to Bangkok. It basically teaches you how to teach English as a foreign language. If you need links for more info, pm me, I'll send them on.

And as for speaking Thai? The only phrase I know is "had jai jai", which means "keep a cool heart" :)
