Jimbo 0 #1 November 20, 2003 There's always talk of tequila here, let's here it, what's your preferred brand? I'm not a big tequila drinker, but I did have some Don Julio last weekend and damn it was good. Smooth, so very very smooth, with just a hint of sweetness, dangerous stuff. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. Dagny 0 #3 November 20, 2003 Speaking of tequila... I just broke open my bottle of Don Julio Reposado. Now I'm just listening to some smooth music here in the dark admiring the color of the tequila in my glass and enjoying the way it burns going down. Anyone else feeling a little dangerous tonight? Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali

airborne31582 0 #5 November 20, 2003 I used to like Mezcal, but can't drink it anymore, oh god I remember that night. I have never been that drunk and hungover in my life Chris I thought of the odds of me succeeding, versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and I went ahead anyway. Viking 0 #6 November 20, 2003 I love Patron. I have a bottle of Mico Gold (made by patron) in the fridge but it doesn't taste as good as patron silver. lummy 4 #14 November 25, 2003 QuoteI've never met a tequila i didn't like.. I'll second that, well, except for Cuervo Gold which is the Miller Genuine Draft of Tequilas.. Patron and Chinaco are bomb diggity, Herradura silver or Rio de plata are great choices if I don't wanna pay $50 a bottle, Del Dueno is good if I can find it, I'm a silver kinda guy tho. One of my mexican friends told me to always drink Silver because his mom says that Gold's will give you a hangoverI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. bendywendy 0 #15 November 25, 2003 Patron & Cabo Wabo Didn't you get to join in a Patron shot while you were at the house in Sebastian? or were you already too far gone to remember like a few of the participants...
Slappie 9 #16 November 26, 2003 I used to drink Cuervo 1800 chilled in the freezer with training wheels. (Lime & Salt) Now when I'm in the mood for tequila it's Parton Silver without training wheels all the way.. I'm a Jagermeister man at heart though.. Something about the smooth burn as it goes down and the mellow feeling I get after 4 or 5 shots of Jager "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." lawrocket 3 #20 November 26, 2003 Wow. Tequila talk. Like most good alcohol, there are varietals of tequila. Note that Mezcal is not technically a tequila. It's made differently. First, one must decide whether the tequila is for shots or for sipping. This is crucial. Why the heck would someone waste a decent Cazadores reposado by shooting it? While it is borderline, it is suitable for sipping. Plato and blanco If doing shots, only look for a plato or a blanco. These are not aged, and are recognized by their clear or silver color. Tres Mujeres or a Raza Azteca are good ones. Dorado For a smoother shot not typically suitable for sipping, find a dorado. This is caramel colored, and some good types are available. Patron Gold is very good (don't go for the harshness of Patron Silver. Heavy with agave, but not well balanced. Chock up Patron Silver to good marketing). This is great because it's more like a reposado. Reposado Reposado is aged further. It's smoother and rich, not quite an anejo, though. Farias is a fine example of a good Reposado. It should be sipped but can be shot (the lingering flavors allow for proper shooting). Actually, shots will give a harsher, almost bitter flavor, while sipping lets some of the fruity textures in. Don't chase this with lime, either. You'll ruin it. Milagro reposado, due to its more complex flavors, should be sipped. Anejo!! The best is anejo. It's aged a lot more - up to five years. This oak barrel aging gives the golden color we love! My favorites? Don Julio "1942" anejo is wonderful for a lighter styled tequila. Not too rich, but smooth with a long agave and peppery finish. For something a bit more rich, try a Herradura Seleccion Suprema. God, what wonderful stuff! My ex-boss poured me some of this. I went out to get some, and they wanted 260 bucks for a bottle. OUCH! Other than that, some cheaper anejos are nice. Purasangre or a standard Herradura do well. My wife is hotter than your wife.
