The man who was being initiated was blindfolded, tied with a noose to a tree and shot with paintball guns as Freeman fired a pistol in the air to provide the sound of real gunfire, Sheriff Fred Phillips said. A bullet struck Murr on the top of the head and exited at the bottom of his skull, authorities said. Freeman fled the ceremony but was arrested near his home, authorities said. It has been the topic of a few threads here even, whether or not a bullet fired into the air could mame or kill someone it falls back down unto. I say, fire a shot in the air and it's kinetic energy coverts to potential energy as it reaches the top of it's tradjectory. All that potential energy converts right back to kinetic as the bullet accelerates back downwards.... In this guys case, the energy lost due to friction with the air was not enough to prevent him from injury. Wonder what type of round it was... likely, it hadn't stopped rifling. Darwin Award!
