Para-Gear.....Shitty business ethics

please dont ever deal with para-gear.

this shit just chaps my ass.........

........i ordered a bunch of rigging tools on the 5th of this month. internet order, ups shipping. well, ive been waiting and just thought today, "gee, i havent gotten my order yet, its way overdue", and remembered the email i received on the 6th saying that if i got the email before 2 pm, it would be out that day if not, the next day, so supposedly it shipped on the 7th of november.

so i called from work, and the guy i talked to said, oh, it went out airmail. i said, well, i didnt click on airmail, i clicked on ups, i never use airmail. he says the shipping is 15 bucks, and pretty much had the attitude like, oh well, too bad. i said, well, its not that bad, but i still dont have my order. he says check with the post office, so i say ok, ill do it when i get home.

fast forward to 4pm.......i go to the post office and talk to the guy i know at the window.......he says, nope, nothing here, everything that came in went right out.........

went home, called paragear back and talked to the same guy. told him what happened. he says, well, since u had it shipped us mail, we cant track it, so if u dont get it, youll have to wait 60 days b4 we can put in a claim. im like, whoa, youre saying im sol for 60 days then, and hes like, well, yeah pretty much.

now, i say, you charged my card for the order and i have nothing........now i have to wait 60 days? he says well, we can reship it , but we have to charge your card a second time. i said, bull, no way i have nothing already, thats unacceptable. he says well, thats all we can do. i said what kind of customer service is that, thats not good business......first of all i said ups ground. i kept saying so what youre telling me is im screwed for 60 days, he keeps saying, "im not saying that, just wait a week, things usually get bunched up in the mail.......i said, dude, it shipped airmail on the 7th, it would have been here the next day. what if it dosent come in a week, im screwed for 60 days.....and it was a beat around the bush yeah yer screwed answer in not so many words and blaming it on the post office. im like, im not dealing with the post office, im dealing with you, i paid you yet i have nothing. thats shitty business practice. he was like "ok"......

i said thats it? just ok, you dont care?

sorry , thats all we can do he says....

i have a good mind to just call amex and get them to pull the payment......i know amex will pull the payment immediately and charge them an extra 25 bucks for the transaction.........i may just do that.

pisses me off, the dude just didnt give a shit what anyone thinks.....i told him id never shop with them and tell other people not to as well.......all i got was another "ok"...........

shitty, shitty, shitty customer service..........

ive dealt with other companies, i mean hell,once i bought a camera, the company shipped it overnight, figured out it went to the wrong address, had no idea if they could even get the one they sent me back and still immediately shipped overnight another one to me....thats service.....


never again.........para-gear sucks

Same here, I've done business with them. I was a little disappointed with the speed of the deliveries, but then I am spoiled by sites like amazon I guess. Overall my experience with them was good..

I think you just had bad luck, and if I were you.. call AMEX and get your money back...

A few small rigging orders from me too. Never any problems. I won' be internet ordering anymore though. I didn't like the idea of giving card info without knowing an exact amount.

dude, i feel your pain.

1st off I'd call amex and pull the payment. Pretty simple issue there, and don't feel bad about it.

And while we're saying who not to do service with, don't use letstalk.com to get your cell phone svc!

i went to purchase a phone with them (t-mobile), got instantly denied based on credit i know my credit is good so I called them, they said call T-mobile.. so I called t-mobile.. and after lots of bitching found out it was deined b/c there was another account open with my SS #. That's funny, I dno't have an acct.. turns out someone took my SS #. Okay, so have to go into dc to fax over proof i'm me (ss card, id, etc) ok great... perp's account is now cancelled, it is okay for me to get a phone. So go back to letstalk.com to order again, this time CC denied.. why? Well, amex thinks it might be fraud 2 charge attempts same amount same company.. so they deny it.. so I have to get letstalk to call amex to authorize it.. get Disconnected from the 3 way call with amex to get it authorized, call back get someone else. they are of no help and say it could take a day before they can get the authorization. I cancel the order go re-order on their website with a different credit card (so this now is the 3rd order) gets instantly denied based on "credit" same issue again, T-Mobile says it's been cleared up but evidentally letstalk.com servers aren't updating or something. Call to talk to a manager.. they are unavailable, ALL DAY it seems. Nothing they can do to "manually" verify that it's okay for me to get the phone. PLUS because 3 orders were not successful i now have to wait 90 days before I can place an order with them again.

The promo that letstalk was giving was saving me close to 200.00.. and no one else is offering the promo what shit!

Give them another call and ask to speak to the owners.

They have always had a great reputation for many many years. They have probably been in business long before most of todays young skydivers were born!

They will work with you because they are one of the best in our sport, and have always been very professional.

I just checked the 2 e-mails I received from my recent Para-Gear order (I received the order today). Neither indicates how I requested the order be shipped.

Para-Gear’s drop down menu for shipment has these options:

UPS GROUND
UPS ORANGE 3-DAY
UPS BLUE 2-DAY
UPS RED NEXT DAY
AIR MAIL

Clicking on the down arrow to view the options, then selecting an option causes the selected option to be highlighted. If you scroll with your mouse, trying to scroll down the page, it instead scrolls through the shipping options. Since AIR MAIL is the last option, it is possible that you scrolled down to AIR MAIL, attempting to scroll the page down. Then clicked on the side bar to scroll down the page and inadvertently selected AIR MAIL.

I’m not saying this is what happened, only one possibility. Another possibility is you selected UPS GROUND and they accidentally shipped it AIR MAIL.

Lately I have found that "customer service" is anything but with most places.
They are used to people calling and bitching at them about one thing or another so they are numb to it and don't care anymore. They stick with the "yes sir, I'm sorry sir, I can't help you anymore sir" mentality instead of trying to help with most problems.
I believe this is also caused by the bad economy. To many people feel that they are stuck in their dead end jobs, so they just don't care anymore. I'm just as guilty of "not caring anymore" about my job as most.

Yup, this is exactly why CC companies provide the service.

Paragear should really ship with trackable methods. I remember skybytch saying when she worked at Square1 that she would never ship USPS for exactly this reason.

maybe ya havent had any probs, and i usually dont when i order things from big or small companies, but whats chapping my ass is the give a shit attitude of the guy i talked to. so if you do ever have a problem, dont expect preferential treatment cuz yer order went awry.........

as for the poster who asked if i had the printout, im glad you asked cuz i just looked at it and it says ups ground on it, i just looked..........heres the printout..........

Of course, those choices leave you to pick the best of two evils... USPS or UPS. I know that around here at least, if you arent home, UPS will just leave boxes on your front step (of course though, according to Micheal Moore, all of us canucks leave our doors unlocked, so they could just put it inside I guess ;)). I dont like either option, through USPS it at least gets delivered by canada post, who if you arent home, takes it to the post office for pickup instead of leaving it just outside your door :P

thats what i figured, i asked to taslk to the owner, because the guy said that it was the owners policy to do that........they said he wasnt there........

Yes, I agree. That is a choice of the 'lesser of two evils.'

My prefered shipper is FedEx. This is primarily based on the large volume of packages that I shipped via thier services when I worked IT for a credit union. Everything was always on time, the driver was always there on time to pick it up, and FedEx ship made things so easy to do. Oh well, I guess some people like brown, and I don't understand the desire to ship with the postal service, they have the worst package liabilities, inadequate tracking, etc.


As for para-gear, I would give them one more shot to make amends and if they blew me off again the credit transaction would get a recall.

Then I would definitely have the CC company cancel the charge, and if you do receive the equipment in the next week, allow Para-Gear to re-charge you.

I can't read it very well, but I'll take your word for it. Looks like it is option "2", they messed up. I would think if they are shown this, they would do whatever it takes to fix their error. I would think they should ship your order, UPS RED NEXT DAY, without charging your CC and refund the original $15.00 shipping charge.

Oh ya, ditch the Molar strap;).

Demand the owner call you back because you wish to speak to the persons in charge, and not the person you have talked to. If they say they are not there, that is an easy way out. Demand to speak with them.

I guarantee you if the owners know the problems you have had with this individual they will take care of you and him/her

i just called back, computers are down, a different guy answered and dosent really know anything .......he said call in the am......and gave me a girls name to speak with.....

im gonna see what gives tomorrow........that will make or break my decision on what to or not to do.
if they have the same attitude and wont reship the order amex is getting a call..........

I know they have been in business for a long time - but three out of the four times I used that company, I received the same treatment - two of the times I was at the store in person to purchase an item (4 video tapes first time, full face helmet second time) I was told I should go home and order it from there and they would ship it to me. Huh? I asked if it was there in stock and he told me "yea, but we can mail it to you and you will have it tomorrow." I was sold the video tapes, but I had to ask for another person to help me out when it came to the helmet (he refused to get the helmet from the back). Oh yea, the store wasn't busy - it was the middle of the afternoon.

I have never used them since. Three strikes. I pretty much have the same rule for anything jump related....I'll give you three chances, after that, my money goes elsewhere and you have lost my loyalty.
