I am just wondering what the benefits are to being invisible with regards to people being able to see if you are online?

For those who have themselves set to invisible, I ask why?

I was looking for an online talkback moderator earlier, only to see that none were online. Then on the link I saw you were invisible and would not have shown up in that list. Then I wondered what the benefits would be.

Now, are you going to answer the question or what?

As I implied in my first responce, for me, it's mostly a privacy issue.

Believe it or not, there are actually some people out there that seem to have nothing better to do than "stalk" other people. They wait until you're on-line and then bombard you with PMs.

While some of these are legit, some are just freekin' annoying.

I also don't like the idea of people knowning exactly when I'm sitting at my computer for a host of other reasons.

Geez, my job would be a whole lot easier if I could set me to 'invisible'. Come to think of it, I might actually start doing well at the casinos, too...
Here, I don't mind if people know that I'm sitting at my computer zoning out. Personal pref.

Then we'll turn that around...who would you like to set as invisible if you could? My kids upon occasion...!!!

I went invisible because of people that would call my cell phone and leave messages saying things like "i know you're online and not out doing something so why aren't you answering the phone?" Got kinda creepy.

Actually, I think its a great idea for folks to be able to be invisible. Mainly for the reasons stated above. Myself, I could give a shit if anyone knows I'm online. Since when I'm on I'm posting, it'd be very obvious when I'm online and not online anyways.

Sounds like paranoia to me. But them no one is going to call me or pm me, I might as well be invisable.. I get the same effect.
