Skydive2 1 #1 April 20, 2011 I've been asked to a July 4th demo with an american flag. Does anyone have any good setups that I could purchase? I was thinking of just a drop flag, nothing huge, have a few ideas on how to set it up with a fanny pack type of thing, but would love any input. DSE 5 #2 April 20, 2011 how small is "nothing huge?" Barracks flag or smaller?
matthewcline 0 #3 April 20, 2011 What type of canopy are you going to fly under? How large a flag do you want to fly? How many practice jumps are you planning? How big is the landing area? Do you want to rent a full set up and get training with it? Can you afford travel to train? MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! normiss 843 #7 April 21, 2011 Do you have to teach the tandem flags to arch?
matthewcline 0 #8 April 21, 2011 As well as read an alti and pull. They are little help with landing though, all that waving around at the crowd and such. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
normiss 843 #9 April 21, 2011 I hate it when they grandstand so dang much they overshadow my spectacular landings.

Skydive2 1 #13 April 21, 2011 The landing area is huge. I was going to use my Velo 96 with a smaller (5x5 ish) flag. That being said I could go bigger and grab a Nav 240 so I could go with a much bigger flag.

The Velo is really not a good Flag flying canopy and a 5x5 is small till your real low. Look at a 250+ canopy and a 1100 foot + Flag. For the crowd to see it. matthewcline 0 #15 April 21, 2011 One is a 3500 square footer and the other is 7800 square feet. Weight is 40 and 50 lbs "I think". MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

DSE 5 #18 April 21, 2011 Here is a 5 x 3 set up I jump on occasion, but have changed so the top snap goes through the toggle guide. Bottom snap goes through hip ring.
Skydive2 1 #19 April 21, 2011 Thanks Matt, Airwardo and DSE. The flag set-up you are jumping with DSE is what I had envisioned. As far as the 'snap' to lock it to the toggle rig and hip rig, what are you using? Lance
DSE 5 #20 April 21, 2011 I'm using a medium sized Wichard swivel snap (similar to an RSL snap). I've added a small strip of pullup cord material to them for ease of opening them. There are a couple in my team room, and of course you know you have access to any of my flags.

Lance The neat thing about the over sized toe loop of a "Poor Man" is if, for some odd reason, your flying the flag and have to chop the main but forget to release the lower part of the flag it tends to pull the over sized toe loop off and go away. Just make sure all is right then put the flag into play! It is a six or 1/2 of a Dozen type thing on if you want to attach one end first or the other. Just make sure it is upside right, before the crowd sees it. MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
Usarig 0 #22 April 24, 2011 These are the best and safest flag setups I have seen. Easy to use and all have been designed with the jumpers safety in mind. PM me for details...
