Jib 0 #1 November 14, 2003 I'm trying to decide whether I'm catching a cold or if I feel like crap right now, because I'm cleaning up someone else's BF mess at work. Nightingale 0 #3 November 14, 2003 Yes, absolutely! After finals week in school, I am always so freakin sick... either flu or strep or a really rotten head cold.. always something. its because stress taxes your body. you push yourself so hard for so long that finally your immune system just throws up its hands and says "I've had it!" and you get sick... usually as soon as you start relaxing. this is why lots of people get sick the second or third day of a vacation. As soon as you're not running on adrenaline anymore, you get the immune crash, and you get sick.
freeflir29 0 #4 November 14, 2003 Yep....I went to court a couple of days in 1999. I had a fever of 104 each afternoon after I left court. Amazingly....after that was over....I felt fine. I've gotten "Stress Rashes" once or twice in my life as well.

lawrocket 3 #6 November 14, 2003 Yes. How about before my first solo. I didn't spew, but almost. The night before my first trial. Yes, I got ill on that night. The morning of, for some reason, was profound calm, like that explained by people who were near death and explained that they accepted that they were going to die. Lawyers get stressed out a lot. kallend 2,106 #10 November 15, 2003 I felt really unwell for about an hour after spending 15 minutes in the "Spatial Disorientation Simulator" at Pensacola Naval Air Station. I guess that counts as stress. Managed to keep my lunch down, though.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

wzettler 0 #13 November 15, 2003 I voted yes because i have learned that stress over a period of time can weaken your imune system. You are probably feeling sick because you have a weak imune system which may have been partially caused by the stress. Thats what i think anyway. Ask some doctors if there are some on here... I think when Jesus said "love your enemy" he probably meant don't kill them.
RevJim 0 #14 November 15, 2003 Up until about 4 1/2 months ago, I would have checked Stress? What's that? Well, after losing my job days before the WFFC, having zero income while fighting with unemployment, winning only to find out that during my appeal my benefits in Illinois ran out and now I must go through the same crap again in Wisconsin, I feel your pain. Stress can manifest itself in much, much worse ways than just feeling ill though. You really, really need to relax a bit beofer it gets worse. I know I need a full out physical, as I think I allowed the stress to get to me in ways it never had before (details are not good at this time), but until I get back to work, I'm scared to even get a checkup, due to some ailments I'm sure to have being found with me having limited health insurance. Relax dude. Please. It might save your life. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#
aero04 0 #15 November 15, 2003 Before I left home to attend Texas A&M, my hands started shaking all the time. The doctor said it was tremors. After I got settled in at school, it went away. tbrown 26 #16 November 15, 2003 It's a documented fact that stress can make you physically ill. About eleven years ago we were a.) having our first house built, b.) trying to nail down the mortgage for it, c.) Boeing was threatening to lay me off (assholes), and d.) my brother was dying of cancer. While eating breakfast, my back went out so completely that I couldn't stand up for 3 days. Not even a shot of Demerol would help. Stress hurts and you will reach a point where your bod says, "I'm taking a week off". Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity ! jumpinfarmer 0 #20 November 15, 2003 Shure do but I try not to. Yesterday was a good example we had a bad bad wind storm which flattened 110 acres of corn I had to pick. Also it took down three elevators we use around our farm one hitting the cab of our newest tractor. It makes me sick to think and worry about all the extra time and expense it will take to harvest the corn and clean up the farm. Theres nothing I could have done to prevent what happend and all our neighbors are in the same boat so why get stressed about it. I was once told you have to play the hand your delt and with mother nature one never knows what that will be. Just take your licks and get back up and going as quick as you can, you will always be better off than someone else.
NoShitThereIWas 0 #21 November 16, 2003 Yes, I believe STRESS can make one physically sick and have other physical reactions. These last few weeks of mine have been the most stress I have faced ever. My body broke out in a rash, my palms will sweat, I start to sweat, then get chills and sometimes my hands would shake. I think stress is probably the only reason I have been sick right after a traumatic event that happened over 2 weeks ago.Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Muenkel 0 #24 November 16, 2003 For the past bunch of months, I have been the definition of stress...and yes, I feel like crap. In normal life, I would only have situational illness due to stress. I used to do plays back in the 80's and everytime I had a performance, I would puke right before going on stage. Once on stage, I was totally fine. Also, what Nightingale said about getting sick during finals is very true. I always came down with a wicked cold during finals week.
