If you ever again touch any of my stuff, or anyone else's stuff without EXPRESSED permission, I will make sure you physically cannot jump for a very long time. For now, I'm going to tell the DZO and every other regular jumper here that you and anyone you bring with you cannot be trusted. Are we clear? Good."

See, the thing is, I wanted to scope the whole thing out before I made even more of an ass out of myself than I was already doing by lumbering around asking if anyone and everyone if they knew where my helmet was. I wasn't thinking clearly, because I was tring to make to 50 that day, and I wasn't sure if I'd have the energy after the partying that ensued on Saturday night. B|

What would I do? Frankly, I'd break their legs! If there's one thing that I hate, it's a thief! When I was in the Marine Corps, at one duty station we had a thief in the barracks. He had been stealing stuff for others. The commanding officer called us all together for a formation. Said, Gentlemen, we have a thief in our mists! "I believe I'm safe in saying that
all of you feel the same way about thiefs as I do. I don't care what you do to him, all is ask is that you bring back enough of him, just leave just enough for me to courtmartial!" A couple of days later, a couple of fairly large individuals caught the thief. A short while later, what they brought to the C.O.'s office was not a pretty sight! This guy looked like he had gone to a gang fight and had forgotten to take his gang with him! Needless to say, we had no trouble with thiefs there again! So I say that I'd let a couple of the baddest dudes at the drop zone "take care" of the individual.. doubt you'd have much trouble with thiefs again! ;)

Well, you and I don't differ on many things...However, in this case; negative behavior warrants negative results. I would have gotten really really ugly with them. Hopefully, taunting them to bow up and cause me to...Bust 'em in the mouth!! Thieves on the DZ. Not an option.

that sux dude.. when i'm at the dz and there is a piece of gear just sitting there taking valuable packing space i am inclinded to move it, but i will either seek out the peson it blongs to or make a lod anouncement saying "i'm moving this white helmet over here so i can pack" kind of thing... very rarly is there anyone new at the dz so it's a helmet or rig and i know who it belongs to so i just move it and tell them...... only problems ive ever had at the dz is when somebody decided to lay thier heavy as hell (rad as big boy rig) on my helmet that was layed ontop of my gear bag.. talk about the time it took me to get it to fit right again.....

That's just it, it wasn't taking up any space. It was right next to my rig...on a packing tarp that is 50' x 100', and there were only four of us packing on that particular tarp.

See, it's not part of my nature to automatically assume the worst about people. However, after asking loudly for 15 minutes about my helmet and then finding it under the folds of a canopy that these two were packing set my blood boiling. I kept my Irish temper in check because I honestly don't want to make things uncomfortable for anyone. If I see them out there again, I'm going to keep a close watch on them and let everyone else know to be wary of them as well.

I mean, for carp's (the fish) sake, the helmet has a sticker on it that nobody else at the DZ has. It says, in big, bold letters, "BE NOT HALF-ASSED". And I even cooked it to fit my noggin. Not that it would matter to potential thieves.

Bottom line is that I will now have to keep my eyes peeled for snatch artists. heh. :D
