Tonto 1 #3 October 31, 2003 I know. That's why I never voted. I'd like to see what they think of what's happened to the US in the last few years. tIt's the year of the Pig.

darkvapor 0 #5 October 31, 2003 I voted yes for several reasons. The Republicans are not going to front another candidate when they already have one that is fairly popular. I hate every stinking Democrate candidate and the general philosophy and ideals of the Democratic party. I am somewhere between a Republican and a Libertarian. Would I vote for the Libertarian candidate? No.. because that is a wasted vote. Not only is it wasted because the Libertarian stands no chance of winning, but because it takes the votes away from a Republican that does stand a very good chance of winning. But am I even going to vote in the first place? Probably not.. but that's for another thread and time..
Taz 0 #6 October 31, 2003 Heeeellllllll no. Is it fair that I still get to vote but don't have to live there? After being outside the country for almost 2 years you can damn well bet I'll be sending in my absentee ballot. If it's anything like the last election though, IT WON'T MATTER WHAT THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS WRITE ON THEIR BALLOT. *sigh*It's the Year of the Dragon. feuergnom 29 #7 October 31, 2003 i think it doesn't matter if you go for yes or no as long as the majority won't vote at all (if i remember correctly participation in the elections was under 50 % )The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver #
skydivejersey 0 #8 October 31, 2003 If I recal correctly more people actually voted for Gore. Thats democracy you know.

Taz 0 #10 October 31, 2003 Very true. I'm all for democracy (ie if the majority of Americans who voted, or even the majority of the electoral college, wanted the guy to be pres, I'd have to deal with that). However, the dude was basically appointed by the Supreme Court based on a majority of several hundred votes in one county in Florida. Democracy? Hmm....It's the Year of the Dragon. Amazon 7 #14 October 31, 2003 give em time to wake up.. all you furiners will get an earfull.. GORE did NOT get that many votes.. and they will try to roll out numbers.. but that belies the OTHER voting irregularities in many counties in FL.. and other places.... people who could not get to vote because of voting irregularities in urban areas.. long lines.. polls closing with many people still in line because there were inadequate facilities. And the recount never really happened.. The Cuban faschist goon squad that showed up at election headquarters subverted any kind of recount there in Miami/Dade county had a nice little riot scaring the election board into inaction in fear. And going to our Supreme Court... what a joke.. it was bought and paid for by Republican party appointees all thru the Nixon/Ford 1968-1976, Reagan/Bush 1980-1992 years. Now there is some real impartiality. This aint no damn democracy, its a Republic... the voice of the appointees holds sway.. not the will of the people. We want to cram democracy down the throats of the rest of the world.. well at least the places that have oil.. corrupt dictatorships we support... as long as they do what the administration wants.. no problem... no democracy. Whats worse is most of the conservative ya hoos dont give a crap about what the world thinks. They seem to forget that americans are powerful but still only 300 millions in a population of 6.5 billions ( APPROX since I dont want to go look it up.) What good will we got from the world for the war on terror after 9/11 has been squandred.. rendering it a longer and more difficult war.. more deaths than we needed to sustain...Making the rest of the planet an adversary is just not smart policy or politics. Taz 0 #16 October 31, 2003 Earful...yeah! I don't care how you spin the voting irregularity thing, it was a close election and no one can dispute that. But did Bush hesitate for just one second before thinking that he was also the president of all the people who didn't vote for him? No. He started signing hardline right-wing executive orders the day he took office. I have to hand it to the guy--those who say he's stupid are missing the point. He consolidated power quickly and decisively, and whether you agree with how he runs the country (and the world) or not, he gets the "Biggest Balls" award for doing whatever he feels like and getting away with it (in the sense that most Americans don't think of him the way the furners do, total and utter contempt and ridicule). I wish the dems would grow some balls, but there doesn't seem to be much hope on the horizon. It's the Year of the Dragon.
skydivejersey 0 #17 October 31, 2003 Quotehe gets the "Biggest Balls" award for doing whatever he feels like and getting away with it If you call damaging pretty much every relationship the US has with any country outside North America "getting away with it" then I suppose he is. I do think he would be a bit better received if he was made aware that their are land masses outside continental USA.

Amazon 7 #19 October 31, 2003 He is really just the figurehead for the real power anyway.. its the whole Kabal that is behind him.. the same ones who gave Reagan and his daddy the "plausible deniability" that sold dope to finance a war clandestinely with "freedom fighters" to sell arms to the idiots who want to now use them to shoot down our own planes. Iran Contra was a massive FUBAR.. that just rolled off the figurehead. Just like this "faulty intelligence" when it comes to WMD... and trying to buy yellowcake in Africa....but hey it looked like a good excuse at the time..THEN the same people who provided the WMD info.. they "leak" the identity of the CIA operative who had provided them with real information.. whose sources if not already dead soon will be. Hell of a way to run a war. Get the people helping you.. killed. It was not him who consolidated power its his handlers.. and I think they really do believe they are bringing on Armegeddon so they can all be raptured outta here. Just hang on.. WWIII is on its way.. coming soon to a city near you.

JDBoston 0 #24 October 31, 2003 Let's see... We went from a surplus to the biggest deficit ever. The economy got worse. Public schools are struggling. Healthcare is a nightmare. BUT... at least we're pissing tens of billions of dollars, and the lives of our soldiers, into a sovereign nation thousands of miles away that we invaded for no reason other than spite. And meanwhile, Saddam and OBL are still on the loose. Oh, sure, he did a bang-up job. What fucking ever. Next! Joe
wmw999 2,514 #25 October 31, 2003 On the other hand, there was a process defined, and they sort of followed it. There have been other presidents who didn't get a majority of the popular vote. Yes, I think the Florida ballot thing was ridiculous. But to leave a presidential election languishing for months wasn't real good, and having a re-vote would be pretty bad, too. There was no good answer. Of course, there was a dearth of good candidates, too, after McCain and Bradley dropped out. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
