They are by some people. Other people are able to appreciate how they look and enjoy their performance without thinking of them as an inanimate object, though. I can appreciate the talent and performance of a football player, but that's not objectifying them.

Are the men in a stip club in control of the stripper? I would recommend you ask the stripper herself... or perhaps one of the bouncers in there.

Please, don't kid yourself... just because the men are the ones paying, doesn't mean they are in control! Would you say that a junkie giving all his money to a heroine pusher is the one in control simply because he's the one with the money? I think not, I present that the pusher is the one in control. See my parallel?
Now, furthermore, we're talking about dancing for a significant other! When my gf dances around for me and takes off her clothes, beleive you me... She's in complete control of me

My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
QuoteVal, we all do things for money...
I agree. Unfortunately, I need money for things like food, shelter, hobbies etc. Like I said earlier, I would do many of the same things I do at work for free, however. I just happened to get paid for it. So, the money doesn't really have any kind of "control" over me. I like what I do, I used to do it for fun (yes, I would do math for fun), and the money is just an added bonus. I don't know of many people that would take their clothes off for someone gross and nasty for free.
QuoteHave you ever been in a strip club? have you ever seen the things a stripper will make a guy do?...
Yes, I have been to one. I don't see the guys doing much other than sitting there. I have seen pretty girls do things for creepy men's money that they would never do for free. Hence, they do things strictly for the money. Hence, the money has power over them. The man has the money, so he basically has the power.

That was a good example, but sexual stuff isn't usually an addiction in healthy individuals. People can get seriously ill without heroin once addicted. People don't die without sex. Hence, sex isn't a "need."
QuoteNow, furthermore, we're talking about dancing for a significant other!
Yeah, that is completely different!

Oh! I completely agree! Like I said, stripping for a sig. other is like taking "performance boosting" pills, or doing anything to "spice up one's sex life." More power to anyone for that. Whatever floats your boat.
Stripping for money does not give you power. Most of them are doing something for the money soley. Money has power over them. Men generally have the money. Hence, it's not "empowering" nor do the dancers have "control." The money has control over them.
My bosses don't really exert "power." My bosses rock. Of course, if I don't do my job, if I come in late all the time, etc, then they will have to exert power.
Their job is to look and dance pretty. I'm not sure how they're not being objectified. Same goes for models...although they just sit and look pretty. Whatever floats your boat, but don't pretend that people who do this have any kind of power or control. They don't. They do something specifically for money. Hence, money has control. (Fine, there are a few that would do it for free....most wouldn't.)
