mr2mk1g 10 #1 October 31, 2003 Damn turbo chargers keep trying to kill me. If its wet and I put my foot down I get the ol' time lag before the turbo's kick in then at about 20-30mph there's a surge of power and sometimes the back end wants to slide. Well this morning I stuck her in a hedge No damage, just backed out, cleared all the leaves off my windscreen, looked sheepishly about and drove off to work leaving a gaping hole and some shocked bunnies. I've never had an issue with her before and this time I wasn't even messing arround but driving sensibly. Maybe there was oil on the road or something or maybe my tire pressure was screwy... I'll have to check. Weird
mikemc 0 #2 October 31, 2003 Maybe you need some driving lessons.
Tonto 1 #3 October 31, 2003 What are you driving? Is the turbo standard? What boost are you running? tIt's the year of the Pig.
dterrick 0 #4 October 31, 2003 Duuude Get ye to Silverstone (or Brands, or Donnington...) wherever your closest racing school is. Not only wil you learn lots about car control, you'll alos have a lot of fun. I guess the other thing you could do would be to install an adjustable boost gauge and turn it down on wet days. Of course, that's much like owning a badass canopy and flying the dog unless conditions are perfect Dave PS sideways is funnnn Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)

Casie 0 #6 October 31, 2003 That sucks! Glad your ok & no damage was done! Just a couple months ago I was going to a tire place to get something corrected that they didn't do right.....well, jumped the curb while turning into the shop & felt like a complete weirdo. Sooo, left & went to another location.....hehehehe! Does that make you feel better????~Porn Kitty WARNING: Goldschlager causes extreme emotional outbursts! mr2mk1g 10 #7 October 31, 2003 She's a 3lt Supra with factory twin turbos. They kick out +12lb of boost over the engine's normal running. Don't know why she wigged out on me... didn't feel at all like she does normaly when I intend to whip the back end round (in a controled enviroment of course). Maybe she simply caught me off guard, maybe that broken glass I ran over at the cinema the other night has given me a slow pucnture and I was running uneaven pressure. Edited to add re: pa2themd Who's? mine? Thanks... its a homage to my FF pants and new rig... you'll see when I get round to posting pics.
Patman 0 #8 October 31, 2003 I got it! When it's raining, ride your bike! Unless that has turbos too!!! Don't tell me I can't! I already know that! Haven't you seen my x-rays?
Tonto 1 #9 October 31, 2003 QuoteThey kick out +12lb of boost What's that in BAR? There is little benefit to turbo at sea level. At altitude - they rock! tIt's the year of the Pig.
mr2mk1g 10 #10 October 31, 2003 thats 12 pounds per square inch.
Tonto 1 #11 October 31, 2003 No Idea what that is in BAR. Over here most production turbo's run 0.5 BAR. Ant more than that and you're looking for high wear and expensive repairs. I'm a supercharger fan myself - no lag, and on off capability. tIt's the year of the Pig.
mr2mk1g 10 #12 October 31, 2003 apparently (google knows all) 12 psi = 0.827369 BAR I guess 0.5BAR is about the positive pressure the turbo gives but when not in use the engine runs with at -4psi (0.27579BAR) and yes turbo's have many disadvantages

I run Mickey Thompson 33x21.50-15 Sportman Pro wrinklewalls at 8 lbs and still somehow manage to burn 'em but they're being turned by a 925 hp 750 ft-lbs/torque belt-drive Merlin/Chevy engine. (4th engine in two years, damnit). So, I truly understand picking leaves and small twigs/brush out of the grill, lol, along with slow children, dogs and unwary skydivers, hehehe.
