jeremyneas 0 #5 October 26, 2003 I don't know...would you buy a Firestone tire if the ad was an Explorer blowing out the front tire at 80mph on the highway ready to flip over... ...even if the stupid driver just drove over a bunch of broken glass. If the glass isn't in the picture, we don't know if it's the cause so we assume it's the tire. How can we assume anything from the pic? The only facts are that it's a Cobolt and that it's not performing very well (reguardless of what the pilot is doing, it doesn't look intentional)... ...he could have just "run over glass" (i.e. fucked up the landing [mostlikely], but that evidence isn't in the pic. Marketing Mayhem!!!

Well, when I look at that picture I just see a pilot fucking up a swoop and i see the double diamonds. So what tells me that? Even Atair factory pilots do get wet some times. I don´t see a Cobalt performing bad, I see a pilot perform very bad on a canopy that is well known for it´s swoop capacities. And even if... Quote ...he could have just "run over glass" (i.e. fucked up the landing [mostlikely], but that evidence isn't in the pic. Do you need to SEE that evidence? Should´nt a skydiver know what kind of things leads to such pictures? In most cases it´s NOT the canopy! So if one is a mature and a thinking skydiver one should take that ad for what it is, a pretty funny ironic ad, which should´nt be taken too seriously! Thats, if it´s an real ad from atair. But thats just my 2cents...... c-ya!------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
kansasskydiver 0 #9 October 26, 2003 i think the picture is real but was never intended to be an atair add. give me 5 mins and i could regenerate that ad in paintbrush. where did you find the add? i bet it's not a real add<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist! SkymonkeyONE 4 #11 October 26, 2003 That canopy looks exactly like one of two of my old sponsored canopies. It's very possible that it's the CC65 that I jumped for a while. Same color pattern anyway. Nice chow by the way, whoever it is. Chuck

I still can't believe evan walked away from that one. he got so lucky, his camera and cypress were fine as well.________________________________________________________ Abbie drove me to Idaho and all I got was this lousy sigline

I think the PST put us on the map, first. ;) For the live action carnage, grab this vid: http://www.deepart.org/sight/the_carnage_round.wmv Sorry ghopper, yours is in there, too. I'd left it out originally, but needed to have it in there to time Evan's chow better with the music. Edited to add: Watching this video again, I'm once again realizing the value of a pond, and am really glad we have it. Everyone made it through that round without a scratch... physically, anyway."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Yeah, that was Evan. His camera, his Cypres, and himself made it through 100%. It's amazing that it all happened in one round, and that no one got hurt. As I understand it, the spot was off on a hop and pop load, and most people were low by the time they got back. We would have lost some legs and maybe some people without that pond. Though the water definitely contributes to target fixation, so... who knows."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

ManBird 0 #20 October 27, 2003 I go for the pond, but only with the legs snapped up. I also set up a little closer to ensure that I'll clear the pond, but not so close that I'll miss it and hit the ground if I hook it too low. I wasn't there when it happened, but there was a pretty nasty wingsuit chow at our DZ once. No injury, but lots of wet gear."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
